Retribution of Scyrah Moves to Plastic
November 20, 2012 by dracs
Privateer Press have announced that they will be releasing a new starter box to kick off you Retribution of Scyrah force. This time they will be entirely in plastic.
This battlegroup contains 4 plastic miniatures; three warjacks (the Chimera, Griffon and Manticore) led by the elven Warcaster Kaelyssa, Night’s Whisper.
This is a formidable force and a perfect starting point for your collection. The move to plastic also allows for greater ease in assembly for those new to wargaming and more customisation options for the more experienced.
Will you lead the Retribution in their aim to wipe out human magic?
I’m no big fan of the design scyrah’s jacks but it was about time !
At long last !
Must admit its welcome addition, even if I really think the aesthetic leaves something to be desired – the caster actually looks cool though, doesn’t do it for me as ar range though
Winterguard and stormblades are also getting repackaged and resculpted in plastic with their full units and weapon attachments.
Plastic Winterguard? Awesomesauce!
Plastic Winterguard WITH rocket launchers. The only thing missing is the UA and Kovnik Joe. It’s about time RoS had a starter set, and it’s good to see it go to plastic. Still think the faction looks silly though. Maybe Eiryss 3 will change my mind about that (she looks awesome in concept art), but most RoS stuff just looks out of place next to everything else in the Iron Kingdoms.
I kinda like the look, helps emphasis how alien the elves of Ios are and how radically different their technology and magic is – I mean they had direct help from their deities when their society was first created (something no other people in the Iron Kingdoms can also claim), that’s bound to have influenced their overall architecture and design ideas even into the modern day. And naturally, a god’s idea of something that looks good would be very different to a mortal’s.
Yeah, but the implication is that an Iron Kingdoms deity’s concept of cool is the same as an anime geek’s. I just feel like it’s a bad fit for the world. It’s a totally subjective judgement, but it’s just always felt like a cop out to me, like the aesthetic of the faction was decided because a marketing group concluded they needed to appeal to anime fans (kind of like how Tau feels for some 40k fans). I think the everblight and circle models do a better job of communicating the inhumanity of their respective deities/demigods. Even cryx works better… Read more »

I view the Scyrah as the one faction that atleast appears to be the techie one that could possibly herald in air ships or something along that train of thought in order to enlarge the battlefield.IE game- If always enslaved by steam punk you are limited… I mean hot air balloons peppering the sky is a fail too.
From what I gather from fluff they are in a arms race atm.
The winterguard will be $23 less than their metal counterparts and the stormblades will save you $34 over the metals, almost an entire heavy warjack.
Is this true? It seemed like they will never get a starter set. I also like the over all look of the jacks.
So, anybody think the mercs will finally get a starter box too?
Yeah I wouldn’t be surprised if we eventually see a plastic version of the old Magnus starter box.. though truth be told I’d rather see the Rhulic starter done in plastic first, perhaps even with a plastic Osrum 😉
Well that was great timing I was thinking about getting another few jacks for my ROS force. I just don’t know what I will do with the caster as I have one already… Um maybe convert it into another mage hunter?
Does anyone know the release date for this?
