Blue Table Painting Take Their Painting Skills to Kickstarter
October 19, 2012 by dracs
Blue Table Painting have announced that they will be starting up a Kickstarter in the next two days which they believe "has the potential to start to revolutionize the entire industry of wargaming."
So what is this ground breaking new scheme, I hear you ask. Well let's see what Blue Table Painting have to say about it:
"Our Kickstarter, which will begin in the next two days, is to begin a new project that we truly believe has the potential to start to revolutionize the entire industry of wargaming. The tool that we're using to begin this revolution, is the "Turbo Army". This is not the same as the old product we offered by the same name. A new and powerful idea, behind an old and awesome name.
A Turbo Army is created with the fires of enthusiasm and imagination. It is a professionally created army ready to be shipped out on the spot.
Instant Gratification. Instead of weeks or months, you can have your army in days. Be playing your new army by the weekend.
Competitiveness. We pick lists that are rock-solid. Many drawn from major tournament-winning lists. Fun is fun, but it's no fun losing.
Imagination. Other armies are whimsical, themed or just plain fun. We draw on our pool of artists for unique conversions and ideas.
Consistency. You have your army. Now what? You can get new units painted up to match.
Selection. Now there is at long last a place on earth where you can get a truly wide selection of armies, models, warbands and even single specialty models. All ready to play or put in your display case. Hundreds of armies ready to march to war!
There is NO PLACE ON EARTH where you can go to find a large selection of pre-painted, ready-to-go armies. You can find a few on e-bay, and maybe a few more on personal stores or Amazon, but to find truly competitive, and truly well painted armies? Nowhere.
We aim to change that. We are once again pioneering a change in the Wargaming field. We have done it before, and we're doing it again. Join us, friends, in what will prove to be exciting new frontier.
Please like and share this post, so that everyone can get in on quality, competitive armies that will Cost Less."Hmm, definitely some promising stuff, especially if you're like me and just too plain lazy to ever get your armies painted, and even when I do it always looks terrible. Seriously, I hide my armies every time Romain comes over to do some painting.
We will definitely be keeping an eye on this new project and it will be really interesting to see how it develops.
Do you think you might try and support Blue Table Painting?
I like BTP and I wish them all the best, but man….I nearly pissed myself laughing when I read this description. All this talk of “revolution” and “fires of enthusiasm” really goes beyond the pale.
Either way… even “cheap” pre-painted armies are probably going to be too much for this poor student 😛
It’s a lot better when you read it in Shawn’s voice.
So I’m guessing all the painted figs will be of one standard scheme for each army. I imagine it would be like going to a donut shop and you either pick up a dozen glazed or an assortment.
We’ve never been the type to not make a splash! Plus we get really, really excited. Fires of Enthusiasm… what a great line. Haha.
We’re hoping there will be something for everyone. I will be checking this thread for any other questions, but for the most part, questions ideally will be addressed on the KS itself.
You guys are fantastic, thanks!
Rob
I really want see the kickstarter video and i hope the Orkomobile is there 😀
International postage would kill my enthusiasm for this stone dead, I think. 🙁
We’ll be making attempts to reduce the pain caused by international shipping. There will be a lot of options that should be pretty affordable. Some Digital DVD’s will be available, that will have no shipping involved at all of course. Hopefully we’ve found a thing or two for everyone.
Yep, that one is my thing. What will be the Level that the DVD will allow us to make? Any list of topics ?
Amazing intro and truly awesome kickstarter!
By the way, Goal = 40k XD tremendo!
The Kickstarter is live:

Just to re-iterate. There is a lot on there that is available digitally. We designed that to help with over-seas folks.
I truly hope to see Shawn do an awesome dance this time around.
Am I missing something here? somebody wants me to part with $50 for a DVD? Really?
The 50$ level was actually a very difficult level to create. We have so many clients that are over seas and cant afford to pay for a pledge and shipping + customs. The 50$ level as it stands has three dvds that we’re creating for this kickstarter, each if which are of good length. It also includes from the 15$ level the custom background and plaque inscription. We are extremely open to ideas of how to improve this level, but we’d really like to keep it feasible for overseas people in these low ranges. Feel free to email me at… Read more »
I will stay posted with this Kickstarter just out of curiosity. I haven’t been overly impressed with the quality of their painted armies in the past so we’ll see if the level of quality goes up along with an affordable price.
@bluetablepainting Question about your 100$ option. I imagine the reward is “credit for painting only”…so the description should probably be a little more clear. If, however, someone pledged at this level, could they just mail you 10 models and have them painted up? Or would there be extra costs for shipping and whatnot?
I’m not to sure about this one. I guess before I would pledge any money I would like to see samples of their level 3 and 5. I did visit their website and view the gallery, but it doesn’t state what levels the miniatures are painted at. Some of the stuff looks really good and others not so much. Also, if I would pledge for a DVD I would like a little preview of what I would be getting. Maybe do something like what Miniwargaming does where they preview part 1 and if you want to see the rest you… Read more »
Our newly created (MOSTLY FOR YOU RAVINGMAD) 100$ level includes the option to get a tank or monstrous creature instead of 10 infantry minis. It includes full assembly and painting. The level of the paint job is typically going to be level 3, however if it turns out the tank or creature is lower than what we averaged, we’ll bump it to level 4. It really depends on the complexity of the miniature. (I know right? This kickstarter is not an easy one to run) But I will personally make sure it’s a good deal. @t9nv3 Shipping needs to be… Read more »
A good place to see a lot of our recent work would be our Facebook page, Killaminis. Check out: http://www.facebook.com/BlueTablePaintingUSA. We’ll have a new painting levels explanation soon. An easy way to say it though is that level 3, is tabletop standard. A level 3 looks good on the table to everyone. A level 5 can withstand up-close scrutiny, a level 7-8 is display quality.
Hope that helps!
