The FAQ says that Leman russes are treated as heavy, so they can fire all their weapons at full BS.
They can fire all their weapons at full BS if they move, but if they fire ordnance weapons they still snap fire their other weapons.
Maybe the feel no pain icon would have been better for the combats?
As strange as this is going to sound you have to play Chaos almost the same way you would play Eldar in the fact that you have specialized troopers. you shouldnt be using normal CSM for assaults they for Khorne. you want a gun line look at noise marines or thousands suns; your basic CSM is filler nothing more.
Its sad to say but they are learning CSM forces into one of the favors from the Dark Gods
What an awful list, especially as you knew that you were going up against a Space Wolf tourney army…really poor representation of what this Codex can do
I had to come on here just to agree. An all foot list is sketchy as it is, but they take a food list, knowing they’d be walking and chose to shorten their range by dropping bolters. They took no vehicles, so had no long range fire support, didn’t take any fiends, deepstruck into a gunline…it’s just all sorts of bad. I’m not saying you need to write a waac list but a footslogging list is just a knee jerk reaction to the toning down of vehicles in 6th. Get some Rhinos, get a Land Raider for your Terminators and… Read more »
Btw that Space Wolf list is illegal, just sayin’
Seemed odd to play to the space wolves list strength and the chaos list weakness in a meet grinder. Wolves = mostly long range + staying still + Aegis CSM = complete CC + having to slog it under fire, with only CSM and termies You mentioned Forge fiend had ectoplasma x3 but didn’t see it in any of your games (ok expensive, but you didn’t even try it out, despite saying CSM has NO plasma). You also played the challenges very passively and then complain that you had to challenge as per rules. Did you try and tool your… Read more »

Now this is a 1850 CSM list…
I’am half asleep but what is wrong with the SW list?
Pop the Quad Gun with the Forgefiends on turn one, rush the Rhinos onto backfield objectives, stick the Raider with Kharn and a squad of Berzerkers down your strongest flank, drop in the terminators turn two and let the Drake do its thing…
Two identical Priests…
I know its picky, just give one a bolter
Chaos CC is not that good a lot of other SME are just as good. I really don’t know why any one wants to be a CSM , because being a marine is just better. GW really made a bad codex again looks oke on paper but play’s like a dogs turd! CSM with the mark of slanesh are not korn beserkers. its a classic mistake , on paper it looks good but in practice it does not work out. I know in the 5th edition my friend always made that mistake over and over again. the old korn where… Read more »
Your Lords are gonna die too easily…
Darrell should have played the CSM – bit unfair for the tournement maniac with his play tested cheesy army to take on the less experienced guy with the new army.
Not a great chaos army – Shows that chaos need IG allies – 3 manitcores should give that devastator line a pounding and divert fire from the incoming troops.
This chaos army was a bit boring – need more flavour.
For long range firepower I’d probably try Havocs with autocannons. I wish Devastators had that option.
Agree with most of the above. A footslogging list with no templates to back them up is a bit meh. I don’t really think that marines should try and play as orks or Nids, especially when you have units as specialist as bezerkers and plague marines. Personally I like the idea of keeping the bolters and having rhinos, yes they may get blown up easier but you’re still gaining some protection for your squads. A land raider with a big bunch of bezerkers and kharn should sort most things out. Also as there is no choice but to challenge then… Read more »
The Chaos list seems to me like an attempt to copy the concept of Darrell’s Space-Wolf list. I guess the biggest mistake in the chaos list is to sink close to 60% of the points in 3 troop choices and make them march across the board with their limited mobility. You will not be in close combat earlier than turn 3. Any opponent with decent heavy support will have 2 or 3 shooting phases plus overwatch. That is just too much if you cannot pay it back or take as much punishment per point as orks. I did not get… Read more »
As a Chaos collector and player, this past weeks coverage had it’s ups and downs, which is good.
Then there’s this batrep. I hate to say it but it was a huge buzzkill. To come to the end of a great week of videos and info and then……blah. Punched in the gut, kicked in the nut(s).
For all that is Chaotically Unholy, please, PLEASE make another list and try this again!
From the sounds of things the roles should have been reversed as anyone knows a force that has to move will always loose to a force that is designed to sit back and fire. That rune priest power seems a little much in my book as well. All in all I think a better list would help Justin. Also this video has helped me see that if any codex needs to be updated its the Space Wolf codex so it’s not as powerful. They seem to have the best of the best that can cover all situations. I’m not going… Read more »
The Chaos list sucks ass to preds Wtf 20 20 man units that have no bolters wow 12 inch guns in 6th who do these guys play??
I think chaos should be random, mutations etc. BUT their should be a chance of getting something as good (or better) than Jaws. Chaos psychic powers should rule, Tzeench master of sorcery is basically a primaris psyker. GW have totally stuffed up psychic powers, they have made them random with no reward. Atleast with the ork’s random chart you get something decent if you roll high.
You can’t use the same psychic power more than once with the same psyker – so no more than 2 re-roll casts for the space wolves per turn, as Darrell got 2 rune priests…
just to mention…
He has 3 RP in that list
Honestly, I think this just mainly shows how over-powered the Space Wolves codex is. I hope they make a more “reasonable” codex for them in 6th edition (like the CSM codex); the wails of the Space Wolves players as all of their OP tricks evaporate will be delicious.
That being said, I played a Space Wolves player last night in a 1000 point game with my CSM list and beat him pretty soundly, but I’m a big Nurgle fan.
Apparently Mark Wells is a space wolf player, so any of the writers that do a reasonable space wolf codex can probably expect their next written piece to be in the form of a Job seekers allowance form…
Not a competitive list at all. Just big 20 man squads with no transport? You could at least have taken Huron for the infiltrating to get them closer.
Most people are thinking that normal csm suck, try some cultists or zombies, an epidemius list, bikers and spawn, flyers… think of what 2 helldrakes w/ baleflame would have done to darrel’s gun line?
Although I’ve been enjoying catching up on all the updates of Chaos Space Marines I’ve missed from my time away from the hobby, I do feel that this battle report was a poor representation of any of the new additions to the codex. 🙁
