tempted to get more skyclaws, but i wouldn’t want to disappoint Russ
what do you guys think? Better to have Blood Angels allies with sanguiniary priest, or stick with skyclaws + a wolfpriest?
All Space Marines can pull tanks apart with their bare hands now, you don’t need Assault Marines to do it, even scouts can use their sniper rifles as pry bars and take most of the leman russ variants apart bolt by frickin bolt.
You should have only rolled 5 hammer of wrath attacks, you can only make them if you are in base to base or in this case contact with the hull. Statistically the tank should die without hammer of wrath anyway. Its more down to vehicles taking a hit on hull points in this situation than jump infantry getting buffed. Its not that good a deal, you killed a 100pt tank with a 200pt unit who are now out of cover and more than likely getting shot up next round. You could do the same with 5 Hammernators for the same… Read more »
Its made me think that Vespid are actually good assault troops now… high ap assault weapon then attack with hammer of wrath + good initiative.
As @edge said it’d only be 5 HoW attacks but I think it’s also important to mention that you don’t get any HoW if you’re Assault Marines moved using their jump packs in the movement phase. They have to walk 6″ on the ground the same as everyone else, terrain tests n’all, so you’re sacrificing that mobility for a could of hits. Yes they’re hits rather than attacks so it’s good but given they need to walk up like anyone else, it’s not that good.
If you like your meltabombs, then start playing Black Templars. The Assault Squads are expensive at 22 points per marine, but the meltabombs are comparitively cheap at 2 points, and the whole squad can have them.
Well if you have enough inches, which I think they had, they could all be moved with their bases to the hull of the vehicle. Realistcally I would use jump packs to move and assault without the reroll/hammer of wrath against a vindicator. Pfff hell no am i going walk up to a vindicator. Troop transport on the other hand have to be destroyed by shooting then assault the disembarked. Why not kill the transport and it’s occupants rather than destroying a 35-50pts dedicated transport just to get your jump packers shot up. Plus the explode result sucks when your… Read more »
Are Necron Triarch Praetorians worthwhile now?
warhammer 40fantasy does it again 😛 beats shooting every time
Don’t you need base contact for hammer of wrath to apply?
@heretichammer01 Yes. The premise is it’s a slam attack from actually making physical contact and this attack happens before you get an consolidation so it’s only the ones that make it base-to-base. My Blood Angels friend got his excitement extinguished when I told him “No, you can’t hop over that ruin if you’re going to HoW, you have to walk like the rest of us” then when he actually did it only one made base contact so wasted that time, and the extra shooting I got because he took a turn longer, for 1 attack. He’s not bothered with it… Read more »
I have a feeling people are going to have to re-learn the rules, as it seems like a lot changed and people are still stuck in 5th ed mode.
To summarise what they didn’t tell you in the video: Jump packs (JPs) used either in move OR assault phase each turn… … (may need JP for move (12″) to get into assault range in first place)… … If using JPs to assault, may re-roll charge distance… …Hammer of Wrath (HoW) only gained for assault with JP, counts as I10 in fight phase! (Any difficult/dangerous terrain between you and target will also influence this) Only models in base contact (didn’t exceed charge distance) have HoW, though as demonstrated that’s not such an issue as others within 2″ will pile in… Read more »
The only way I’d ever consider playing assault marines again in my vanilla army would be if they could count as troops. They’re still not worth taking, and easily defeated by too many other armies in CC.
Who needs assault marines when you have… Death Company with Jump packs led by Lemartes! Including HoW just how many attacks is that … 😉
BA FAQ has just confirmed:
Q: Does a model that uses the Wings of Sanguinius to charge an enemy unit in the Assault phase gain the Hammer of Wrath special rule? p(63)
A: Yes.
Oh Yes!
