Start Your Own Star Wars Saga with Fantasy Flight Games
August 20, 2012 by brennon
Fantasy Flight Games had a little surprise for attendees to Gen Con this year, the announcement of a new Star Wars Role-Playing game. Star Wars: Edge of the Empire is currently available in Beta form!
Edge of the Empire marks the first of a trilogy of books which explore the Star Wars universe. In the first book you'll be heading to the outer rim, mixing with the scum and villains and even playing a loveable rogue. Age of Rebellion will follow this, putting you in the flight suit of a Rebel pilot. And finally you will get to use the Force in the final installment.
A copy of the Beta was available to everyone at the event but you can also get your hands on it through your local retailer (US Only) or through the Fantasy Flight webstore. International fans will have to wait a few weeks.
Did you get to experience Edge of the Empire at Gen Con?

That came along a lot sooner than expected.
And I just finished my Saga set of books about four months ago with a lucky Goodwill Store find.
Heh, damn, I think I just missed the boat on selling all my Saga edition books. I suspect eBay is going to be flooded with them over the next month or two..
FFG are going nuts for Star Wars

I’m glad to hear that the game will support a similar dice mechanics used in Warhammer Roleplay 3rd edition, but without the chits (those damn things get lost all the time). I’m actually most interested in first game as there are no jedi as playable characters and I’ll most likely will be using… Read more »
…will certainly be better than Traveller. Most broken system ever imo lol.

LBB Traveller is the best sci fi game ever
Any game where your character can die at character generation will get the thumbs up from me for sheer irony 😉
In ways I’m interested in the beta version of the game as it contains no background information, just the game mechanics. Meaning I won’t have to pay for the content I most likely don’t use. On the other hand FFG has always had high production values when it comes to art and writing, so I’ll most likely wait for the final product.
