Superbly Painted Drake Gear-Strider for Heavy Gear!
August 16, 2012 by brennon
If you can't make it to Gen Con Indy 2012 Dream Pod 9 wanted to make sure you still got your dose of Heavy Gear this week. Check out this painted version of The Drake Gear-Strider by Angel Giraldez!
This is an astounding piece of art. It almost seems a shame for it to end up on the battlefield having dice rolled at it! But I guess this Gear could take a few knocks and scrapes.
Angel painted this with the Reaper Master Series paints but if you're looking to get this onto the battlefield the rules will be available later in the year through the Forged in Fire Southern Field Guide.
Will you be grabbing one of these for a massive painting project?

ALL that is for Heavy Gear? What scale is it?
It’s 12-15mm scale.
Also, I just wanted to say that the 3D modeler, David Tauzia, and the painter, Angel Giraldez are Gods—They both do remarkable work and really understand the look and feel of Heavy Gear.
“mm.”? Really?
It’s a “giant robot” for that scale. I’m guessing the height of the miniature, itself, is closer to 45-50mm?
That’s what I was thinking, because of the details ( that little head, for exaple ), and painting.
Pretty! The best HG painted mini ive seen so far.
Fantastic. Absolutely brilliant.
I think there was some fluff about it the Nucual book mentioning the Southerners working on a Monster gear to try and one up Paxton’s gearstrider.
Oops my mistake. I saw fluff on this southern gearstrider in the free online e-magazine Gear-up.
