GCT Preview Wave Eight of Bushido with Deadly Concept Art
August 14, 2012 by brennon
GCT Studios are done with one wave, and are then immediately onto the next one! Check out the concept art for the next wave of Bushido miniatures, starting with Hagane - Prefecture of Ryu...
So what do you make of this deadly samurai warrior woman? There is a mass of movement and action in this concept art and we hope this is going to translate over into the sculpts!
GCT Studios have been right on the money with the miniatures for Bushido recently and so I reckon we're on for a sell out miniature with Hagane.
What do you reckon to this latest Prefecture?

If the sculptor can refine the concept and capture the moment the artwork just misses (imho)
it will be stunning.
The drawing looks a little awkward to me. I look forward to seeing the finished model as am confident the sculptor will not let the team down.
I think the issue, at least in part, is that the figure and background are totally separate elements, as these are transferred to plain colour backgrounds matching the faction in question, when used on packaging and http://www.bushido-thegame.com. Therefore the figure doesn’t seem to bed in to the background properly, causing an awkward effect.
But I too have faith that the sculptor will do a bang on job with this. Bushido sculpts are getting better and better with each release.
Looks like bits of ninja with samurai to me…the background is not working. Id prefer just the figure on a plain background or a better match
Mini should be good
Agreed. It does not really look very convincing. Same goes for outfit design- why anybody sane would wear a sode AND kusazuri without breastplate (or any other form of do) remains a mystery. Swords on RIGHT side of belt ? That’s also … uncommon in best case. In any case- nice to see next oriental- themed mini, that’s for sure.
It’s a fantasy game, not historical, and set in a fictional place which is a blend of Japanese, Chinese and other oriental cultures. There’s no attempt at, or mandate for historical accuracy in terms of costume.
Personally I really like the look of the figure.
Mertaal- absolutely agreed. With all honesty it does not even have to be logical (let us be fair, a lot of mini designs are not). It’s just me, preferring swords to hang in a way allowing them to be drawn and armors to be at least believeable (“How does it all hold together?”) but my preferences are just personal oppinion and should not be treated as anything more.
