New Concept Mech Design from Micropanzer Wargames
January 18, 2011 by beerogre
As I'm really getting into Secrets of the 3rd Reich, I've been scouring the web looking for 28-33mm scale mech models with a suitably Weird World War 2 vibe.
Using my incredibly weak Google-Fu, I stumbled across this lovely looking concept video from Micropanzer Wargames. They're not a company I've seen before, but they produce a neat range of 15mm and 28mm (heroic scale... so more like 30-33mm) miniatures with a hard sci-fi look.
If this has whet your appetite for some sci-fi goodness, head on over to their website here.
Alternatively, you can check out some more of the concept design videos from Micorpanzer Wargames, on YouTube, at 3dfoudry.

really nice models – that walker is very tau…
Would love to see them closeup.
Andy – can use your celeb mojo and get some for unboxing???
I can but try… 🙂
I think the range looks really interesting, I’ll see if I can get my grubby mitts on a good selection.

Looks like ED-209 got an upgrade
Unboxing thix would be great ! I like the (apparent) posability of the mech, and also the design of the other pieces… It’s worth a look !
Really nice.
I particularly like the 2 slightly smaller armoured suits in that picture aswell.
I’ve got a small list of companies prepared for if I really decide to give Adeptus Titanicus a go and these can easily go on that list for chaos/ad mech Titans.
That’s one of the best things about chunky armoured suits/walkers, regardless of the scale the model has been designed for you can usually put them into any scale from 6mm up to…well as big as you want. At one end they are towering behemoths, at the other little spying/assassination robots.
I think the armored humans in the picture would look cool as proxies for the Gue-Vesa, the human allies of the Tau… They look good, and I wouldn’t mind seeing them up close !
That is a gorgeous design but that flame thrower might get them in trouble. gw seem to be on the warpath after the chapterhouse issue. hopefully it’s generic enough.
If GW has an issue with this, then Japan should be able to sue GW for the design of the Tau
So I was trying to look for this game online and figure out what it’s all about, but apparently my google-fu skills are weak compared to yours Andy. How is this game played? Is it like Warmachine?
Don’t know how the game runs. If we get a copy, I’ll check it out.
I’m more interested in the minis for now.

very nice, especially like the WIP shots of their russian walker thingys. If your looking for models for sot3r have a look at dust tactics, the mechs in it look pretty sweet
The Dust Tactics mechs do look nice, but everyone is using them!
I want something different for my SoT3R forces.
I’ve already sourced some WWW2 style mechs from Japan, for my Germans and I’ve scratch-built 3 British mechs from Kinder Eggs and a Mini Eggs tube. 😀
But, I’m still missing that all-important super-heavy centrepiece that I can cheese right out. 😉
BoW Andy
how about the dreamforge leviathan as a superheavy centrepiece
i wonder if i could pass that off as tau?…
Wow! I’m likeing the ideas from everyone else about Tau proxys, I think the S.A.S concepts will work best here http://www.micropanzer.com/2011%20images/72sas.jpg
Depending on the size of the mechs then they could also be imagined as Tau Titans, that would be epic
Well, I think you’re a bit off on this. First of all, I think it’s more of a medium mech than light. The design is pretty similar to the M113 APC (which is why it’s so popular). It has a few extra weapons, but mostly just looks like an APC with small weapons. For graphics, I have started relying on https://masterbundles.com/gifts-for-engineers/ source. Second, I don’t see how it can possibly be a hovercraft as well as an APC. That would require some pretty serious hover fans and some huge power packs, neither of which are likely to work well in… Read more »
