Blackwater Gulch Gets Four New Personalities
June 26, 2012 by brennon
It's time again for a jaunt down to the town of Blackwater Gulch. Let's see just what kind of rootin' tootin' mayhem Gangfight Games can get up to. Well, it's new concept art time!
Plenty of action once again in these concepts and as we saw with the Mexicanos Bandidos miniatures they can really translate it into the finished miniatures. My favourite either has to be the Indiana Jones inspired Nevada Dave or the absolutely axe crazy Mongo.
Some real personality and character is coming out of Blackwater Gulch and it will be brilliant to see this range of models take of over the next year or so.
Which of these concepts catches your eye the most?

Very dynamic art once again – everyone is clearly moving at speed (even the somewhat static Tennessee looks more like he’s taking an aiming stance on the move rather than from a prepared firing line) and it really gives a sense of the adrenaline rush of combat. Nevada Dave is great, the crouch to minimise his profile and leg positioning as if he’s lunged out from behind cover are very action-packed. Marshall Stewart however I’m puzzled by, as the way his body is twisted to imply movement makes him look more like he’s about to fall over – something doesn’t… Read more »
Pretty much agree with all of that thc Marshall Stewart is probably the one I would but as it would fit with a Victorian/Steampunk setting I get the impression he has gone tanking around a corner and straight into trouble. It is an interesting pose, but I can see why you question it. The sharp jackknifing of the torso makes the drawing look awkward to me now you mention it. The abdomen and upper torso would be twisting which is hard to depict under the coat and is obscured by the arm. Also the coat along the back has a… Read more »
Thanks folks 🙂
yeah the positions are a bit exaggerated .. I told the artist I was going for a comic book hero vibe for the sketches. The sculpts won’t be quite as acrobatic looking, they have to work good as a sculpt, but we’ll try to capture all the movement we can and get them as close as possible 🙂 Like the marshall will probably look more like he’s running instead of jumping sideways and backwards at the same time 🙂
