Simply, thank you. I am so frustrated by my Infinity minis. I don’t suppose you could give some tips for the other armor types, like the NMM you see on all Panoceania armor? Or just an NMM tutorial in general. I’m getting better with NMM but it just feels like I’m missing something obvious.
Sure thing !
It may be a while before the video airs, but I’ll get to it.
In the meantime, there’s a fantasy NMM tutorial scheduled.
Stay tuned !
Was this mini ever fully finished and if so will it posted in Minirama?
Sadly, no…
Perhaps at some point it will get done.
A very useful tuotorial thanks. I believe purple dyes historically were very expensive and were reserved for fine clothes. Maybe that’s why we don’t associate the colour with warriors
“lt so difficult to get those bloodstains out in my normal wash”
Purple dyes were very rare and hard to make (and they faded extremely fast) which is why they were hardly used until the 19th century when William Henry Perkin figured out how to make a good purple dye derived from coal tar (Tyrian Purple). Prior to that, purple was used almost exclusively by royalty or the papacy (mostly the papacy after the Roman empire fell apart). There were purple-clad warriors in ancient and medieval times, but they were almost always royal guards (praetorians sometimes wore purple) or guards tasked with protecting the episcopate (or the guards who protected the priests… Read more »
Thanks for your kind words, everyone !
I started wargaming a good while ago and am Still trying to get motivated to paint my armies. We got a pal that does army painting as a side job but I do want to paint my own armies. Hoping to motivate myself watching these tutorials. Any hint on how to paint a good all black armor? Do metallics work on these Infinity plates? (I don’t think I ever saw mettalic paints used on infinity minis)
I’ve seen metallic paint on a few infinity minis. It generally does not look as good as the NMM techniques do. It looks too heavy and kind of messy when compared to a nice clean shading job. Infinity minis generally have much smaller surfaces than you see in other lines so they can be a real pain to paint well. They require more patience and control. They look awesome when they’re done well though. But don’t worry too much about getting amazing results right away. If you’ve never painted minis before (or not much before) it’s going to take some… Read more »
I’ll try to look into it. I also took a look at the 40k armor painting tutorials and they were pretty nice. I’m making a Yu Jing Army, that’s composed of a JSA sectorial and an Imperial Service sectorial that will have different, but somewhat complimentary color schemes. I decided on a black ops, resistance theme for my JSA (Acting as normal JSA when under Yu Jing Command), with the main colors being silver, black and red(With some spots of white, maybe), while my Yu Jing is going for green, black and red on a more “emerald guard” theme. The… Read more »
Thanks for your interest !
There are NMM tutorials coming up soon, so you will want to look into that as well. I also can confidently predict the release of more Infinity tutorials in the future, although the scheduling is still being thought out at the moment…
Stay tuned !
I’ll look foward to it. Got my Vallejo Model Air paints yesterday, so I’ll probably be able to speed up priming and basecoating smaller and bigger models. You have experience with airbush painting, Romain?
Some…
I think Infinity minis don’t need airbrushing, as opposed to larger armies of less detailed miniatures. I now pretty much only prime mine white, as well.
But if you need pre-shading or priming in different colours, then the airbrush is the way to go, because it’s not as grainy as sprays !
Another great video Romain, I admit to being a bit lost where my Infinity miniatures were concerned, seeing you break it down into manageable stages has given me some ideas for how to approach my Panoceania minis now.
