The Babylonians Bolster their Ranks in Hail Caesar

Some more infantry for the forces of Babylon this week from Warlord Games. Check out the Aramean and Chaldean Light Infantry ready to storm onto the battlefield in the name of their Lord in Hail Caesar.
So what do you think of these new forces? They really are the definition of Light Infantry with very basic cloth armour, wicker shields and basic bronze helmets to protect them. They tended to rush forwards in an unorganised mass hoping to overwhelm the enemy.
I think you might need some more powerful support to back them up!
Will you be adding these to your ancient armies?

Definitely figs to consider to go with a desert-themed board as the bare chests and light, loose clothes are ideally suited to hotter weather. I like the contrast between the regimented spearmen and more individual and rabble-like light infantry too.
Aramean light infantry has nice poses and that gives them some life but those spearmen lack some variety with they poses.
I got all excited to see 15mm Ancients in the latest activity thread then instantly knew these are the hard plastic 28mm stuff once i clicked the link to this post.
Some nice figs for the 28mm boys but mass battles IMO need to be 6 or 15mm
I don’t think these are plastic, a lot of Warlord’s stuff is still metal if it’s more viable to make it that way.
I think you may be right I forgot they still do metals
I agree with trebormills; while a 28mm phalanx looks like a bunch of dudes, waving sticks, the same formation, with the same footprint looks the business in 6 or 10mm (while usually costing less and being faster to paint). Time and again I get drawn to great looking rules like Hail Caesar, Black Powder, Clash of Empires, … only to realize that on a budget and timescale accessible to me, it simply wouldn’t be one of the Priestley’s epic tables, but rather a half-painted skirmish in “formations”. (not to say one couldn’t use any of these rules with smaller scales,… Read more »
