Today Darrell tell's us how your BS (balistic skill) works when it is five or like some models higher. now if you play Tau you'll know just what we're on about here if you use marker lights.

Tau BS is capped at 5 for both Markerlights and Targetting Arrays.
It is very clear on that in the Tau codex.
Yep, sounds like Lloyd is pulling the wool over your eyes Darrell!
what happens if you have a BS higher than 5 and its a twin-linked weapon: you can’t re-roll a re-roll?
Give me an example of a unit that has BS6 and a twin linked weapon, and I will tell you the answer…. 😉
You can only re-roll something once, so I would take the twin linked.
With a BS of 6 or higher, the second roll is not a re-roll but a contiuation or the roll to hit and not a true re-roll.
So with a twin linked weapon it would work like this: roll to hit (roll a 1) continue to roll to hit (roll a 1) then re-roll for the twin link (roll a 1), you missed.
I have to disagree @wolflord68, it specifically states on pg. 18 that it is a re-roll, and a dice can only be re-rolled once.
aha very true, never noticed that, must be intentional by the clever folks at GW.
yeah. it specifically states that markerlights can only increase your balistic skill to a maximum of 5, and @rokco you can only ever fit one targetting array anyway. Lloyd is cheating here. epicly
Oh I wish Nadreg was in the next Ork codex with his BS 5 :).
Yeah, re-rolling re-rolls is just plain cheating.
how I see it is I don’t think the second roll if you have BS higher than 5 counts as a reroll, because you are not rerolling for the same value. For example, if you have BS6, you have to roll a 2+ to hit, if you roll a 1, you miss, then, you have to get a 6+ on the next roll, so it isn’t a direct reroll. Now, I don’t have my BRB at hand at the moment, lent it to a friend, but I don’t think is uses the word “reroll” when telling you the rule, now,… Read more »
Pg. 18 – “If a model has a special rule that already confers it a re-roll to hit (like a master-crafted weapon, for example), then that re-roll takes precedence and the chart above is not used. Instead the chances to hit on the re-roll are the same as the first shot, depending of the firer’s BS. Remember a dice can only ever be re-rolled once!”
It is not a rule that is used a lot, so it is understandable there is some confusion, but it’s pretty clear. 🙂
OK, I’m wrong, thanks for posting the paraqraph.
No problem dude! I have a lot of free time. 🙂
Wow, I have never ever heard of this before. Also, some units can give -BS modifier. Dante for instance gives -1 BS & WS to all enemy units within 6″, so BS 6 could also help against such rare occasions.
