The Dropzone Commander Website IS LIVE!
June 8, 2012 by brennon
Dropzone Commander is probably one of, if not the main, hot topics with us right now. The game from Hawk Wargames comes with so many amazing miniatures it has us squealing like little school girls. So without further ado, the Dropzone Commander web site is LIVE RIGHT NOW.
Also check out some of these amazing images.
Post-Human Republic
The Post-Human Republic are probably the faction that I personally am very much behind. It might be because they have something called the 'Odin Heavy Walker' but the mix of sleek designs and heavy weaponry makes them astounding to the eye. They have an amazing look when they're all together as you can see in the collective images above.
United Colonies of Mankind
The United Colonies of Mankind are certainly a more rough and ready force. The vehicles smack of practicality and seem as if they have gone through rigorous battlefield testing. With Alien and Cyborg forces bearing down on them from all sides you would hope this is the case. Driving through the shattered remains of humanity these guys seem like they have paid a heavy price.
Shaltari Tribes
Now this is a faction with an interesting twist. The first thing to springs to mind when I see them is "Oh My God its the Halo Covenant!" and you can forgive me for that when you spy their Jaguar Walkers and Angular designs. While not my favourite I think that this could be the Alien race I would spring for in the far future of 10mm Sci-Fi battle.
The Scourge
An interesting faction to be sure. The Scourge have that bug like appearance of an Alien race hell bent on extermination. The chitinous style plating on their vehicles and that eerie purple paint scheme mark these guys out as someone to avoid.
On top of the wonderful images you see above there is the Modular Terrain. Each building comes in separate blocks so you can build them up as high or indeed as wide as you wish. As well as giving a sense of scale to the miniatures themselves it means no board need ever be the same. Fancy fighting in the middle of a city? Build the structures to high rise level. Fancy going out into the suburbs for a bit of open warfare? Then lower it down and spread it out.
Also, if you fancy checking out some of the models in various stages of painting before you choose some yourselves check out the new Progress Log (Plog) on our forums right here: Dropzone Commander Painting Plog.
Which faction will you ally with when the time comes?

United Colonies of Mankind. I love everything about them. I’ll probably love the back story too!!
Live tonight if only
Yeah, must be problems
That is some real cool ideas for the buildings they did for the infestation.
Those pics still make me drool, utterly amazing. Can’t wait to pre-order my scourge force!
Major disappointment. Not even after a week of fixing the site can they fix it. 2 dates given, 2 dates missed. Poor planning really
Well they went into final bug fixing tonight so my hoping is at this late hour, now I’m back from the pub I can enjoy some models…soon…ish…maybe… 😉

As I would not have a clue of how to fix their problem I’ll refrain from passing comment apart from as they say “The best things in life are worth waiting for”.
The website has gone live now. Go check it out 🙂

the prices are intresting without a look at the rules…
I would much rather pay these prices for what they’re promising than for what I currently pay for 40k.
That being said, I know money doesn’t grow on trees, but I’m excited to spend some cash on this new line…I hope the rules and future releases are great and that the game remains a favorite among the miniature world to give us decades of miniature gaming!
I would also love to see what this company could to with the fantasy genre!
Huge dragons, blocks of troops, war machines, full scale castles, dwarven air ships…
ok…getting ahead of myself..breath.
£12 for 30 10mm figures! They’re taking the piss. I can get 30 from Pendraken for £4.80. Ok maybe the sculpts arn’t quite as good but at 10mm who can make out the detail when they’re on the table. Heck I can even buy good 15mm figures from Rebel minis or Critical Mass games and still save money.
Its difficult looking at it without rules, but the whole pricing structure pushes you towards the dropships and tanks, I’d take a guess that actual ground troops wandering around wont be the mainstay of your army, you will likely have very few, and the bigger stuff is very reasonably priced – and better sculpted than pretty much everything else out there. Even the larger army deals dont really have many troops in them, one or two bases more than the smallest army deal. For what its worth, I went for the post human basic army deal, I like the aesthetic… Read more »
prices for the infantry are a bit steep the tanks are slightly more expensive than historical but i was expecting the dropships to be a lot more expensive than they are
i think i have found my new wargame of choice if the rules are decent. the prices still better than most plus larger scale than most wargames too and they have fantastic minis what more could a wargamer want.
It is great to have a glimpse at army composition/size and some background, but I was really hoping they would have some starter rules up for download.
I can spend all day on that website 🙂
Without getting into price relativity, so far it’s a NOPE. 68 pounds for 4 roughly 28mm-human sized mechs, 2 matchbox cars, 4 bases of tiny dudes and 2 jetbike-sized flyers, no matter how nice they look, is pushing my “not getting your money’s worth” button. And everything on the site points towards no free rules PDF which is a major boo-boo these days too…
Loving the united colonies. Remind me of aliens the colonial marines
Goodness, Dropzone Commander is just about the most expensive 10mm range I’ve ever seen! Those starter army boxed sets end up costing over $100 US. I think it might even be cheaper to buy a starter Warmaster army direct from Games Workshop. I was semi-curious about DzC to begin with–now its a definite pass.
now that i have gotten over shiny syndrome its actually kind of sad that the price is what kills it. in my earlier comment it was still shiny and i thought the price was in us dollars. i would buy it if it had free rules and a cheaper price
I like many people were wowed by the minis and couldnt wait to see what the site offered and check out the preorders, i spent most of the time looking at the shiney pictures. then checked the prices and left the site after 5 mins.. no free pdf rules to atleast get a taste of the core aspects of the game.. and £68 quid for just one! small starter army.. hmm id sooner (never thought id say it) spend £68 and buy the island of blood WHFB box, or invest in the Warmachine starter box. if i want to get… Read more »
You can’t even play a decent game with a WHFB island of blood box. And the two games are totally different. The prices aren’t that out of line with Flames of War.
Althought it would had been great if they some kind of quick start rules I am happy that least we got some background to factions so that we get some image about game’s universe.
Great looking game. Amazing concepts with the scenery. Its a shame that the prices are ridiculous, although once everyone gets an idea of how much you need to play a fulfilling game, opinions may change. The rulebooks price isn’t terrible IMO. I’d pick that up just for the read.
I was hoping that at 10mm the price would be so good that rules would be almost a moot point. However, they are MUCH steeper then expected. Still not out of range but I am very hesitant to blindly preorder now. For me it will depend completely on how good the rules are. So far the turn structure has been my favorite rule. I like the direction of the Commander cards and at 40 cards per faction, even with overlap, it could really spice things up on the table. The variable range bit sounds interesting too but I want to… Read more »
