Forge World Open the Imperial Armoury
May 12, 2012 by brennon
A massive amount of weapons and gadgets are now available for your old Space Marine chapters from Forge World. Check out the different sets below...
First above is the MKIV Space Marine Assault Squad. Wearing Maximus armour and with their single engined packs they are the ultimate strike force for the battlefields of the past in Warhammer 40,000.
Next is a set of weapons for your Terminators. Lightning Claws, Thunder Hammers, Storm Shields and Power Weapons galore in this pack allowing you to kit out your antique marines with some powerful tools.
And last but not least is the Tigrus Pattern Bolter Set. Arm an entire squad with these powerful old bolters. Bolt Pistols, grenades and ammo packs are also provided in this set.
Will you be arming any of your marines from this release?

All three sets are descent looking stuff, but look too much like regular marine gear to justify the price.
For about the same price as the assault squad, you can get the more distinctive Tartaros Pattern Terminators set.
Interesting to see that Maximus armour gets the ‘plucked’ version of Sanguinary Guard jump packs. It certainly keeps to the fluff that the SG get older, more advanced tech relics – the Maximus suit is supposed to be superior to the later Heresy suit (due to not needing to produce the armour in strained circumstances under the shadow of galactic war) after all.
Those models with Maximus armor are rather nice looking and I like the design. Also having similar jump packs to onces that Sanguinary Guard uses. How ever I like those Terminators even more.
I cannot help but look at those Mk. IV Assault Marines in wonder and awe. They look incredible! However, am stunned as I fielded a 10-man Assault Squad in October last year at my 1st Throne of Skulls at Warhammer World…
I used Mk. IV Armour with Sanguinary jump-packs that people loved the look of. lol – 😛 It’s amazing how things turn out and that I’m not the only person with such an idea. Although to match my COG theme, I used the Ravenwing Tech torso as a winged COG for fast attack.
Looking forward to spoiling myself with these!!!!
they look great
shut up and take my money forgeworld!!!!!!!
Assault Marines look a bit sucky, not enough variation from the GW versions in terms of missed opportunity for dynamic posing and whatnot. Not worth the money imo.
Sadly these will all be in finecast resin and I am on my 3rd replacement of the tartaros pattern terminators with seriously substandard casting, yet the resin models they advertise are the regular old resin……..surely a case of misadvertising
I was under the impression that Forgeworld stuff was made out of different resin mix than what we get from actual GW finecast models. At least the basilisk I ordered a few months back was no finecast resin. Substandart casting with Forgeworld isn’t unheard of, but mostly their stuff has been good. A friend of mine made a reclaim a few years back with with some Epic models. Apart from that, no hassle. But it’s not like I make purchases there that often.
If you look carefully at the terminator stuff you see that the combi-weapon attachments are all separate from the bolter, meaning you can choose what combi-weapon they carry (and possibly be able to swap them)
I think this is a great idea and GW need to start selling weapons like that, letting us choose the type of combi-weapon modelled.
Anyway, these models look amazing as usual, shame about the price
I find it rather pain. Nothing much that jumps out at me.
The assault marine jump-packs are exactly the same as the ones you get with the sanguinary guard from the blood angels if you don’t glue the wings on. Hmmm not impressed
🙂
