Warhammer Empire Battalion on Advance Order
May 2, 2012 by brennon
The Army Book has been updated and the models have got an overhaul in some departments; that means new Battalion box time. The Empire's new 'Starter Kit' is up on advance order now from the Games Workshop website...
As you can see the Battalion box contains 20 State troops, 10 Handgunners/Crossbowmen, 10 Knights and a Cannon to add a bit of boot to your army. While not always the best way to start off an army, they at least allow for a quick boost to any faction with a few of the key components.
Will you be picking one up?

FAIL! Nothing new, nothing changed!
Only new thing in this box is look of box itself.
What I was expecting was…
20x Statetroops
10x Greatswords
10x Handgunners
5x Knights
1x Cannon
Just as something a little different…but ah well. But yes, its back on advance order…lol

No Greatswords mean the only way to get them is to…well…pay through the nose. The number of knights is more forgivable depending on sprue layout – it’s not as simple as just putting one more or less in, to change the number they have to recut the sprue and that tooling takes time and money. GW probably have the resources to do that…but we’d end up with a ‘price adjustment’ over it so I’ll overlook it this time. 😉
I’m actually starting a kingdom of men army for kings of wars so was intrigued to see this but, I think I’m going to stick to perry miniatures and fire forge.
I don’t really know why GW are incapable of releasing two or more more Battalions for select armies.
Box only comes with 8 Knights.
