Warhammer Empire Up for Advance Order
April 3, 2012 by dracs
The new releases for the Empire in Warhammer Fantasy are now available to pre-order from Games Workshop, so now is the perfect time to prepare your forces of the greatest kingdom of men.
The Empire are one of my favourite armies in Warhammer Fantasy and I am really excited to see some of these new miniatures. The Witch Hunter is an especially welcome sight, I've missed them since the Mordheim miniatures.
Will any of you be pre-ordering an Empire force? How do you think the army will have changed in the new edition?

Kinda mentioned this in the forum, but the new and “resurrected” Finecast miniatures all come with a price-hike between £0.50 to £2.50. A hint of what the annual price-hike is going to be like? Or merely a separate price-hike, which will be increased come the annual price-hike?
Either way, I’d like to thank GW for singling out Empire players for this wonderful price increase.
Oh stop your bitching. Then go play inferior game systems in your friends basements like Warmachine and Malifaux and quit crying. Ill stick to my GW stores and the free places they provide to play
Warmachine and Malifaux inferior? *snicker* Which bit is inferior? The great minis both produce and not from a substance that bubbles and is a flawed product (Finecast)? Or is it the much better and less confusing, read not ambiguous, gaming rules? Or could it be the reasonable control on price increases? (Not sure how you’re able to afford a whole WHF army these days.) Other than if you live in Nottingham, Warhammer World, the regular gaming shops aren’t anything special. Also, no need to play in basements, there are gaming shops out there not totally dedicated to Games Workshop. GW… Read more »
Same game system where I can slave away killing a unit of 30 High Elf Phoenix Guard, reducing their number to 1 (finally) – only for the game to end and be denied all those victory points because I “didn’t wipe out the unit completely” … …
Great stuff.
“Not sure how you’re able to afford a whole WHF army these days.” so true
Pardon me I thought I had logged on to BoW where even when people don’t agree they are usually polite about the difference of opinion.
Seems I got the wrong forum, my bad.
Aha. Ahaha. Ahahahahahahahahaha!
Oh, I haven’t had such a good laugh in a while. That was hilarious.
That *was* a joke, right?
I merely questions blunts rather sharp comment towards poosh. No rudeness intended.
Don’t think Chibi was talking about you.
But – whatever you think about GW – why is it ok for Vampire counts to get their Finecast Necromancers for £9.50 – but when Empire get their Warrior Priests finecasted, they cost £10.00 !!
Under the old Finecast pricing system a Grand Master *should* cost £15.50 in Finecast but according to the Advance Order page, they jacked the price up to £18.00.
I’ll probably check out the army book first and then go from there. I sound rather dull but the units I want for my Empire are the ones you can already get like cannons and knights. The new models/units do look great, however I’m mostly keen on just getting the army book right now.
Nice enough figures, par for the course I would say – The only I really dislike it the art on the army book.
Not that I plan on picking up the Empier, but nice toy soldiers
Seeing how well GW has developed the empire to make the humans in this fantasy setting actually become interesting really makes me miss Mordhiem. @bluntforce You need to chill out on bashing other games. You have a right to dislike them, but the era of people only playing games from one company is long gone and there is no need to tow the company line anymore. If you want to profess your love for fantasy and explain why you like it more than warmachine or malifaux, please do. I’m sure it would make for an interesting thread in the fantasy… Read more »
Cover art continues that old school style that all new WHFB army books have in them. That guy with bow and arrow and those demigryph riders look intresting.
@mecha82 yes, but the red clown nose on the main guy strike me the wrong way
Shite is not the same as Old School.
The biggest change will be the price. Finecast gives Gouge Workshop an excuse to put their dwindling fan base to the sword yet again. I’m going to buy up some of the older stuff before it goes ‘Finecast’ and I can’t afford it, and leave GW behind. I never liked their juvenile, simplistic, unrealistic game system to begin with, and just use their mini’s for command groups in other games
