The trouble with a lot of games is a lack of opponents, which is why 40k is one of the games I play the most (and it’s fun as well).
Flames of War, I would class as similar, very much mainstream with quite a large international following, for this reason i will be watching these videos with great interest.
No point in building an army for a rule system with no one to play against. I’ve done that as well (and probably will again).
The pre painted rubberised scenery looked so good I completely missed the slip up Warren’s wardrobe dept.
Matt’s tash ftw!
For me to play Flames of War, I would expect to have quite an investment in time and money. I might be more interested if the entry is not too steep.
Right now, I would need to find someone willing to fight through a few games before I would invest. It does look really cool and I like the deepness of the game.
A good way to get into the game at a lower price point (model wise) is to play 600 point ‘lunch time’ games.
There is a section in the rulebook about it (or there was in 2nd edition, not seen 3rd edition yet). That’s how I tried the game and 600 point games are good fun. You could do a mini league/tourny in an evening at a store/club
