Lead Adventure Dispel the Myth that Dwarf Women Have Beards
February 26, 2012 by brennon
To round off a week of fantastic looking Dwarf releases from Lead Adventure is their two sets of Dwarf Maidens from the upcoming range.
Wonderfully characterful once again, and great additions to both Roleplaying and Fantasy games. I think it's a pretty sure deal that I will want to get my hands on these when they get released.
Liking the look of these Dwarf Maidens?
I’ll just come out and say it…SACRILEGE!
Dwarven women have beards – the only reason you don’t see them on models is because it’s (to put it politely) not conventionally pretty. The sculpts here have ruggedly characterful faces that aren’t particularly feminine anyway, so why didn’t they go the extra mile if they weren’t going to make pretty dwarfettes and give them beards?
At least all the stuff they’re carrying and their poses are well done and ‘tell a story’ but really – they should have had nice silken beards you could hang on to…erm…I’ll stop now. 😉
Perhaps the beards are just not where you think you’d find them at first?
These are good fun
Personally I prefer the Red Box female dwarves who have real weapons not just those from the kitchen.
I like that comic element to these models. They have that grim battleaxe thing going on on top of the comic dwarf feeling. It’s why I think they would be great leading a unit of halfling mercenaries with those pots and pans. Could get a great bit of fluff out of that and have them run as warriors or quarrellers.
Also on the beard front, I like to think that they CAN grow beards, but that they shave them off…so proper dwarf warrior women do indeed grow their beards long.

These models are great.
