Firstly I’ll say it does look good. Do you prefer the ‘cartoony’ look or the accurate look (where it’s lighter towards the source)?
Thanks a lot !
I think realism in treatment highly depends on the miniature…
This troll is a big cartoony beastie with lovely smooth stylized flames, so “less realistic” fit with the theme. If I were painting a realistic miniature of a soldier wielding a flame-thrower, my take on the flames wouldn’t be the same.
Also, it depends on what mood I want to convey, and what I feel like. And it should be the same for every miniature you paint, I might add !

Enjoyable tutorial but when it dosn’t relate to anything I’m planning at the moment I like to make notes for future reference. which are ok but I would prefer visual reminders, so how long will your old tutorials remain accessable on this site ?
I’ll have to ask for some specifics, but I don’t think any of the videos here stop being accessible, including mine.
I know all of my tutorials are currently available on the site !

It’s truly a wonderful video. I struggle to hold a ruddy paintbrush – my hand shakes terribly and knowing I’ll never get close to such a beautiful piece of art is roomin’ annoying.
Never say never…
Interestingly enough, shaky hands have no impact on the quality of someone’s painting. It’s all about focus and holding the miniature right.
A friend of mine has constantly shaking hands, except when he’s focused enough to paint. The brain is a wonderful thing !
