Maelstrom Games have released a massive new serpentine character for their BaneLords range. Vilthiss, the mightiest of Gorgonars!
Maelstrom Games have established themselves as producing some great imaginative sculpts and Vilthiss does not disappoint.
Personally I'm trying to work out how to include him in my Lizardmen army.
Any of you like the look of this scaly slaughterer? What might you use him as?

Much more Rackham Confrontation -like than their previous releases. It the blade I think. But still, a really fine miniature.
I love it. It’s got stacks of movement and detail, a fearsome beast indeed! Don’t have a use for it in any systems I play – but when a miniature looks this good who needs any other reason to buy one?
For me this mini suffers from some of the problems that their previous snake man had.
The sketch shows it as very agile looking (as was the case with the previous mini) but yet the model itself is without doubt somewhat on the tubby side.
Sadly it is enough to put me off.
I’m still waiting patiently for Maelstrom to put together some of the more elegant fantasy monsters though I’d like to see them take on a pegasus and griffon, wild ones rather than ridden, or an option for both.
I don’t have a use for one but it’s still a nice model. I can see this being a good painting project. You could paint the scales all sorts of colours.

You read my mind… Preordered mine today for my lizardman army. Checking with bane legions this model comes on a 40mm base and could be tricky to get on a 25… So thinking to use him as an old blood when sat in a unit of Saurus. Plan is this. Use a 50mm square base, so he’ll rank up nice in a unit. Then use the extra space to magnatise on a couple of Saurus warriors so that it doesnt look so bare around him. I look forward to seeing that mate. My lizardmen are still armed with short bows so I’m expecting the battalion box to arrive soon. Thinking once i get a little more modelling expertise to try for a Tepok themed army, lots of feathers and snakes etc.

You say Lizardmen, I say Dark Eldar (look at the sleek blade style) – now that would make a great Sslyth. I like the cracked ancient armour he’s wearing as it really makes for a good battle-worn effect.
Why not put it on a bigger base and use it as a Shaggoth. Who says shaggoths don’t deform over the millenia

Mine arrived today! And with a little hot water shaping on the tail and some weight in the base, it will fit on a 25mm base!! Winner! Old Blood lord for the lizards!
