Who Out There Needs Some Futuristic Gang Members?
January 24, 2012 by beerogre
If you're looking for some super cool 3D-printed sci-fi Gang Members, then check out Gang War Miniatures!
There are also a few terrain pieces, as well as a number of cool weapon sprues.
It all looks good... has anyone seen any "in the flesh"... as it were?
House Dealque and the Redemptionists, anyone?
Hoping they bring out something I can use as House Goliath. >_<
Did a bit of googling Andy and found this http://easternfringe.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8543&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0
The end results look a bit gritty to me and not as nice as the renders. Pity, I really like the look of the robo dogs!
Although to be fair to the guy, it could be his self confessed awful paining 😉
I would concur. A horrible paint job can obscure many a detail indeed. Will have to see first hand. But if they can get something descent going then there is a definite market for alternate sculpts or useful additions to Necromunda.
I ordered some several months ago to test out the new superfine material from Shapeways. My estimate was that they were about 90% of the detail of a GW mini, with a few advantages, like not needing to drill gun barrels. My (not brilliantly painted either, but somewhat better) sample and brief review is here: http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?318154-Current-State-of-3D-Printing
These are also more realistically proportioned than GW’s “heroic” minis, and a bit smaller so they aren’t a perfect match for Necromunda.
Oops, looks like from that Eastern Fringe link that he’s adjusted the scale since I ordered the ones I got, so ignore that bit of my comment.
I think they look fine…not super detailed and super crisp but more than adequate for gaming with. Would work well for Combat Zone, Necromunda etc
They look great! This is the type of thing I wish to get into. I just don’t know where to start.
… get into as in design your own, or get into a minis game of gang fights?
I was meaning designing my own models and then making them by the 3D printer.
mmm….http://www.shapeways.com/tutorials/
might help
That robo-dog looks very Halo Jones-esque 🙂
i never had the chance to play necromunda when it was new and popular, but now since the rules are free (a rarity from darth workshop) hopefully there will be a revival?
Necromunda’s had a quiet but enduring following. With free rules and affordable minis like the EM-4 plastic gangers it’s real easy to get into it.
I’ll one day get a slug for constantly pitching this, but I think it deserves it; if you’re interested in Necromunda check out the Gangs of Nu Ork. A local guy put in a lot of effort to streamline the rules and add more options, so you can play any race from the 40k universe in the progressive campaigns that made the original Necra so special.
