Become an Art Collector with Studio Giráldez
November 30, 2011 by beerogre
Have you ever wanted to own a model painted by the eminently talented Ángel Giráldez?
Then check out this soldier model that he currently has up on the auction block over at eBay...
Don't let auction fever get the better of you... but it is a fantastic job.
Must be the first time I have ever seen “pro-painter” in an ebay description and actually believed it!
An ebay ticker would actually not be a bad idea…
Truly awesome paint but that basing work?
I only seen once a full wood elves army that was painted to extreme standerds on ebay. It was by a man that won golden deamon awards and he was clearing space for an addition to the family. It was going for $3k and up.
Hi guys
I am selling “old paintjobs” in ebay and also unpainted miniatures, I have many miniatures
it is a good opportunity 😉
In a few weeks I will sell more
thank Andy 😉
Gotta love that freehand work.
Sorry I missed the part where this is wargaming/gaming news?
Some guy ( I don’t do hero worship) that paints minis for a company is doing private listings on ebay and gets free advertising on BOW? Seems pretty irresponsible journalism to me guys. I’m all for supporting new products and gaming systems but this just seems ridiculous and is hardly news worthy.
What’s next? White Dwarf listing ‘Eavy metal painters private collection items for sale?
I’m with Jae on this.
Lovely painting…….but still seems wrong advertising people’s ebay auctions.
Hi Jaerin
I understand it :), but it is only a little news. It isn´t important.
BOW and I have a good relationship, Warren is a great guy and he is very sympathetic, I love this guy, hehehehe
Sometimes I sent photos of official painted of Infinity, Anima tactic, PP, etc… and this week I helped them in the assembly of a miniature
I think that they showed this news in gratitude with me but it isn´t necessary, I like to help BOW 🙂
OK so by your reply I understand this was a one off favour for a friend by BOW.
Thanks for clarifying Angel!
I second Jaerin’s comment. Its not on this really BOW. Have a word with yourselves.
The fact that an artist of Angel’s calibre is putting a miniature up for auction is interesting and newsworthy… that’s why it was included in the news section.
Breaking News, is not paid for advertising… it’s whatever we think is cool and we want to tell people about.
We generally don’t promote or report sales. But in this case the story is the sale.
“Have a word with yourselves ?” I find that a bit odd.
I note a double standard here… No one complains when we point out a nice video or a trailer for a video game that isn’t a wargame per se… Or when BoW advertises for a painting service.
Angel Giraldez in an immense artist and a prominent figure (ha ha) in the hobby community. When he does something like this, it’s news… Just like when a renowned sculptor or painter tries and build his own company.
Granted, we could do the same with other prominent painters… And we probably will.
BoW Romain
So perhaps this is just the tip of the iceberg and more professional miniature painters will have their private sales showcased as breaking news.
If this is the trend ahead for BOW then Cool Mini or Not may have some competition in future?
The bids will be going through the roof now it has been endorsed by BoW
oh still 1 bid at 29Euros, same as when I checked 24 hours ago 😉
Wait what? You all are serious? Tut tut, this is a mini wargaming journalism site that should never pander to mere promotion and sales. Are you kidding me? What do you think “On the Table” is, if not a product spotlight? Go get colonoscopies and ask the doc to see if he can find your heads. This site promotes the hobby. The whole hobby. This includes manufacturers of games, tools, miniatures, paint, etc. And yes it absolutely should promote the notification of sales of mini’s by excellent painters. Man, such a one sided, single faceted view of what BoW is.… Read more »
LOL
Angel already stated this was a personal favour. It has nothing to do with promoting the industry on the whole or any product ranges. As for your comments about colonoscopies, you lose any credence to your opinions when you begin slinging immature insults.
Don’t see how you can compare reviewing the newest releases of companies who’s product is available to the masses, which BoW do a good job of, to what is essentially an attempt to create a bidding war on a single item. At least sites like CMoN make you pay (and a very reasonable rate as well) for the privalage of showing your auctions. There is obviously little point in even discussing it as insults have already begun to fly towards those that do not agree with it and the wagons have already started circling. Also in reply to chibi, as… Read more »
The tabletop gaming industry needs star names… and modest though he is… Angel Giraldez is a big name artist in our little gaming bubble.
These people should be celebrated as the artists they are and it’s part of the whole drive of BoW to infuse the industry with that spark of celebrity that was so nearly stifled in the 90’s-00’s… as such when someone puts something on their blog (such as this sale) that people might be interested in, then we’ll show it off.
No doubt he is. That is not and never was in question. Celebrate his brilliance by all means. Can’t speak for others Andy, however nothing you say is going to convince me that it was anything other than you doing your mate a favour by plugging his ebay auction. The appeal to me of BoW was your apparent unbiased coverage of the hobby and this has obviously come into question. I wish you and all BoW lads the very best and I hope that you make a go of your TV time and push the hobby on to bigger and… Read more »
@mrdee … that’s a pity… I can assure you I don’t play favourites when it comes to the news and I personally know someone in nearly all of the companies we cover. The larger ones anyway.
I notice you do the odd commission piece too. If there was something cool on your blog, or that was posted on one of the BoW groups… like the Chaos Warriors project you are working on. Then I would post that too.

However, if there is nothing I can say to convince you, then I’ll just leave it at that.
BoW shows us cool stuff, sometimes the people who’s cool stuff gets shown to us help BoW show us more cool stuff, to make sure their cool stuff gets shown to us, so we buy it, so they can make more cool stuff for BoW to show us.
It helps you can read that in Mufasa’s voice…
In fairness to keep a front page running you sometimes may need some filler. I think that filler that is beautiful minis rather than ..ehem…some stupid cartoon is fine by me. I was not offended by this in any way.
Ha the article even has a semi- warning at the end,’Don’t let auction fever get the better of you… but it is a fantastic job.’ this is to drum up support for those who support BOW.
If it was stated in the replies from BOW that it had indeed been a slow news day and that it was a favour for a friend then the discussion would most likely have died out much sooner. However, it was defended as something completely otherwise which put a totally different angle on the story. Angel himself disclosed it was a favour by BOW because they knew him personally, after we were told differently by the editorial staff regarding the motivation for running it in the first place. All in all not a good day for unbiased or truthful journalism,… Read more »
