More Warmachine – Cryx Battlegroup
July 29, 2011 by beerogre
Andy contines to look at the starter set's for Warmachine this time zeroing in on the Cryx Battlegroup and has come to appreciate the Caster in this set more having been beating to a bloody pulp by her recently.
Do you want to know more about Warmachine? Then check out these Discussion Groups on the site:
Great unboxing videos of the new starter boxes. Even if I have the Cygnar metal starter box, I can’t wait to get the new one. And the Cryx is a must have for me too. I really enjoy them.
And please, tell us more of Warmachine. It’s great to hear about tactics, and to see more of Privateer Press miniatures.
Greetings
Lemy
Your wish is my command… more vids will be on the way! 🙂
If anyone has any questions, remember to join up to the discussion groups and fire out a few posts… I’m a member of them all… so I’ll try to answer what I can.
However, there are other members there who can get you answers too, why not join us?
You know you want to!!! 🙂

Whats about hordes folks? Are you planing to make some unboxing for the wild and feral factions of the iron kingdoms?
But this unboxing vids are very nice and its your fault that i will start a khador amy after my birthday this month d;o)
thanks a lot guys for your great work. *Thumbs up*
Hordes is in the pipeline too, but we’ve have neglected Warmachine for long enough and the release of the resin starter kits was a good point to address that deficiency, as it gives new players an easy “in” to the game.
There’s a big backlog of Warmachine stuff to do, but if there’s anything you want to see, I’m going to start a thread on the Warmachine group to take requests.
Once we’ve made a dent in the Warmachine backlog, I promise I’ll do some hordes stuff. 🙂
Nice to hear. iam looking forward to it, because personaly i like hordes much more then warmaschine because of the idea of using the wrath of big beasts to crush the enemy. well one wish at last: is there any possibility to open some hordes groups?
Great vid, guys. it’s nice to see some warmachine stuff up.
are you also going to do some coverage on hordes?
Yes… see the answer above.
As per usual, the unboxing videos are amazing work…
The new Warmachine minis are fabulous. I like the way Andy presents them, it’s detailed an thorough as well as friendly ! His expertise is showing.
I’m happy to see you’re doing more vids about PP minis, it’s always a treat for me.
This has made me register, actually.
Here’s a link to the thread on what to unbox next…

I look forward to hearing from you all!

You are soooo tempting me to go out an spend all my £20.93 life savings on a Cryx force, even though I’ve started 40k Daemons.
By the way, what glue brand / product would you recommend for these resin models?
filla glue is best man im usin it on all my stuff these days use a kicka pen with it and it dries in seconds
BoW Justin
We used Filla-Glu, but any high viscosity (i.e. thick) type of “super glue” will do.
If you can get one of those activator pens it make assembling the models a lot easier.
However, these Cryx models were by far the easiest to put together. There’s really only one pose those light ‘jacks are going into… you could pose them as “sort of” running… but it doen’t look particularly good, which is why I didn’t do one for the vid.
Hope that helps… 🙂
I prefer using Loctite Gel Control on anything and everything. It’s made to handle everything, and you only need the one little bottle. The less you use, the stronger the bond. You don’t need the two step process like Filla glue seems to need. Hold for 15 seconds, dry in 30 typically, just using the glue as is. But I’ve never used Filla glue, so I don’t know if it’s better or not, Loctite works and it doesn’t need more than “put glue to model and stick”.
I love these vids but could you possibly get a little closer with the close cam? I would love to see more of the details on the casters. Thanks
Great job again guys! I’ll have to start a Cryx army now. Thanks!
Oh look, necrons… pla… plague necrons. Wait, what?
Another great unboxing. Keep the Warmachine love comming.
I’m going to agree with Darrell here on the Warriors of Chaos. It is after all a Panic/Terror test and the Will of Chaos allows a reroll so it’s a good to go.
One of these kids is not like the others… methinks you’ve posted this under the wrong video! 😉
Another great vid Andy, could you do a short piece on the bits and pieces you need to play the game, dice/templates/counters etc – ideally in the form of a BATTLE REPORT 😉
Can you treat these models the same as plastic when it comes to painting? Or do you need a special type to adhere to resin? Andy, brilliant explanations!
Nope… just prime them like you would with a metal model.
They should be pretty clean, but it always pays to give them a rub with some lukewarm water with a drop of washing up liquid. I generally don’t do it and I haven’t been caught out yet, but if you want to be 100% certain, it won’t hurt.
Just don’t use boiling (or just boiled) water… it will soften the resin!
That’s the temperature we use to fix the bent bits.
I noticed too when you were unboxing them that there’s a fair bit of resin dust, is that from the model or the molding process?
Nope… that was from the set. We were clearing up and the place needs a hoovering! 🙂
I was actually surprised how clean the bits were. you would nearly think they had been pre-washed… I couldn’t confirm that, but they’ve been cleaned up a bit.. so they might have been washed too.
Glad to see this reloaded…hope you get all the pp vids up asap
These with a tactics, rulebook and wrath selection should see people interested in pp right
I was thinking either Cygnar or Cryx as my next Warmachine faction and this video made me want to pick Cryx over Cygnar little more than before.
I’m a bit still confused about the ghost walk spell; in the book it says the model can advance through terrain and obstacles (walls, ruins, etc) but Andy keeps mentioning about going through other models I.e. infantry and ‘jacks.
Can i actually use ghost walk to go through units at all?
From what i’m reading; it can go through terrain, but it doesn’t make the model incorporeal.
