Its rather nice starter box even if both sides get only 3 gears each. But least those are metal so they have reason not to have more models than that.
Coool
Things that are not correct in this video. 1) You get 3 Hunters (North standard Heavy Gear) and 3 Jagers (South Standard Heavy Gear). You get a weapon upgrade sprue with parts to make a command variant (head), and two weapon upgrades. No model needs to roll more than 4 dice max, usually it’s 2 dice each, thus 4 dice. Gear Garage is an army construction program that is player created and company supported. There is also lots of token sheets and paper terrain on the DP.com website for download. The Big book = fluff and army lists. The little… Read more »
Space Marine conversion opportunity!!!
really i thought more along the lines of crisis suit conversions although tey may be slightly too small
You might find them small. Try the Utopian Commando Armigers (CEF force) for the high tech flying look as a count’s as model.
I swear that unless the 2nd pressing of the BattleTech into box set comes out soon…..i’m just going to buy this.
I feel sorta the same way, in fact everything I know about heavy gear comes from the video game that would have been mechwarrior3 if the licence had stayed with activision…

Good on you for putting this up!
The cgi is a bit ropey but it does look like the heavy gear stuff

Why do you need to tempt me? WHHHHY!? Great lookin minis! More please.
It’s a really nice place to start if you’re thinking of getting into the game. After this you can add 1 blister to complete a GP squad. You have a lot of choices as to what that blister is too.
Darrell worked up such a sweat putting them together that he had to change his shirt???
Best thing is that if you want to turn your starter squad into General Purpose squads then you add 2 more Hunters/Jagers. If you want to make them a strike squad you add two Jaguars/Black Mambas. If you want a Fire Support you add Two Grizzlies for the north. Lots of options!
very nice models but i find the blades look far too short and fat
Well Melee combat in Blitz is a tertiary form of attack. If you want melee mecha then check out Arena. I actually don’t put too many of the Vibro Blade on my Gears. The nice thing is that all the weapon options are separate so you can use what you’d like and leave off the rest. There is a wide margin for customization in Heavy Gear.
the old game (read tactical?) played alot like battletech. still have 5 of the Rafm minis was surprised when i picked up a couple more gears on a whim and the scale & had changed, guess that happens when you leave a game. the new blitz rules are supposed to make the game play smooth. i haven’t played it yet, but looking forward to ordering a starter set or two in the new year. (friends ain’t touching 40K till the new edition now and i need to have something to do)
The starter set is great and not only that you can use all six gears for certain factions so its a really a great deal especially if your going to do leagless.
Looks like a really nice sci-fi game actually, but at the same time also looks really rather expensive too! (Not to mention the rules seem a bit unconsolidated)
It’ll go on my long term list of things to watch, along with Mercs 😛 Back to finishing my Dystopian Wars fleet and Imperial Guard 🙂
Does Darrell ever prep for these unboxings? If you’re not going to get the main points and fluff right you might as well have someone else voiceover afterwords.
