Warmachine Cygnar Battlegroup Unboxing
August 2, 2011 by lloyd
Join Andy as he breaks open the Cygnar Battlegroup box, takes a look at what's inside, then gives a few hints and tips on playing the models in a game... after he first get all sticky putting them together!
So what do you think... is he right?
What do you think of Cygnar and the new plastic warjack models?
Post a comment below and see if you can't lure the Ogre out of his cave to give you a reply.

Ah cygnar my arch nemesis, god but I hate gun mages
Where is a painted figure???
Great video and an excellent battle box for beginners.
Great video Andy! Thank God you are showing the models assembled after unboxing them, something which I felt was lacking in nearly all the other unboxing videos.
Also, the tips you are giving about each individual model is so helpful. Can’t wait to see the Cryx video (as this is the army I have chosen to start playing Warmachine). Keep up the great videos!!!
Nice Review. Hope theres more Warmachine / Hordes stuff coming!
One question: do you always assemble the models first and then clean the molding and other nasty excess stuff up? Because i find it easier to clean everything up first. And from what i’ve read, the PP resin is rather soft and not so easy to clean up. Do you have the same experience?
Yes, I found the PP resin to be much softer than the typical GW-style plastic. The first box we did, we cleaned all the parts first, then stuck the model together, but it takes too long and we’re pressed for time a bit when filming. So we just stuck the bits together and cleaned up what we can.
I find the resin is reasonably easy to clean up if you use a sharp knife, but you have to be careful… one slip and you can lop off a bit of the detail… as well as a finger! 🙁
Great unboxing guys! Showing the models assembled after is an awesome idea! Keep up the great work BoW!
Great job on the Warmachine videos! Very informative and good to hear some valuable tips from a veteran like Andy.
Ah, Cygnar, the ultramarines of the warmachine universe.
Retreat and shoot for King Leto!!!
Is that not their motto?
THANK YOU! well done,At long last we get some WarMachine vids. the new stuff looks cool i may have to buy all my box sets… again.
great review, cool looking models which look fun to build and the game it’s self is sparking my interest but most of all it is great to see another new face join the BOW team.
outstanding job Andy, your review is very informative and quite professional in it’s execution,
keep up the great work.
im just starting warmCHINE BUT WHAT ARMY SHOULD I GET CAN SOME ONE PLEESE HELP
I just ordered this as my first entry into Warmachine. It’s my first wargame since I stopped playing Warhammer in about ’98 due to being at college and having no money! Looking forward to painting these figures. It looks tough with that shield there, would you normally prepaint the back of the shield and the arm it attaches to before gluing it on, or would you magnetise something like that as standard?
I like this battlebox! Great video!
The Ironclad is a great jack, but I have the feeling most cygnarian lists nowadays include Ol’Rowdy instead. I guess the ironclad in the battlebox could be easily converted by making a big shoulder plate in green stuff…
Similarly, if you run eHaley (and everybody does, who doesn’t like to manipulate time and space?), you will always trade the Lancer for Thorn. For other lists the Lancer is generally enough.
The charger is super focus hungry but can really be a threat!
I’m wondering, are they actually resin or is it just plastic? Because the Battlegroups’ pages on the Privateer Press website are advertising them as plastic and when John did an unboxing of the Cygnar Heavy Warjack box (the one that makes either the Ironclad, the Defender or the Cyclone) he said they were plastic and (I think) that you could use plastic glue on them.
You also forgot to mention that the Lancer’s shield will do cortex damage to any ‘jacks that attack it. So if a warjack attacks the Lancer, there’s a good chance they’ll lose their cortex and if they don’t attack it the Lancer could just come up and start smacking them with the shield and burn out their cortex that way.
Nevermind; you did mention it – must’ve been half-asleep when I watched this last.
Great to see this video reuploaded.
wow, those are a lot of parts compared to the khador set.
