BaneLegions Bring the Viking Berserker Rage
November 9, 2011 by brennon
We saw some impressive sculpts from BaneLegions yesterday with Ckaarakk and Maru, but this guy has beaten both of them in my opinion. Meet Eirik Longaxe - Steersman of Hrafnen.
Amazing bit of detail about the hero and the artists notes on the image are always fun to read. But you want to see the full sculpt don't you?
It might be my love of all things Norse winning me over, but this model looks superb! Once again Eirik will be available 3rd December, and they have promised more images soon, including painted ones.
Are you as won over as me by this latest miniature?
What a hunk !
This is amazingly close to the concept art, amazingly close to historical vikings, amazingly close to human proportions, amazingly close to moving on its own…
And amazingly close to my pile of minis !

It’s all thanks, I think anyway, to the Kopinski brother who drew it lol. He always manages to get a lot of movement into his work and therefore it seems to translate over to the models born from it.
I’m glad they lowered his arms a little though so you could see his face, always a pain when that’s covered on a mini.
I’m thinking this guy might have to be either my newest D&D model or the start of something historical…and I never thought I would start collecting historical minis lol.
That’s a good point about the arm. For me I was saying to myself that the arm needed to be higher as it is that in the artwork that gives it so much movement. I feel the higher arm gives it force like he is about to strike with the axe. But I do see your point in the face needing to be seen.
Is the axe shaft (haft?) bent on the mini?
It’s not bent, I think it’s not been glued on right…
there’s a definite break.
Too bad, really, but getting it straight will be quite easy I’m sure.
very close to the art and a nice mini for sure but something about the left arm looks wrong to me also the haft thing looks bent
With a straightened haft the arm shouldn’t look too wrong. It’s in the right position for an overhead strike I think.
tbh I dont think its the break/bend in the haft that makes the arm look wrong to me its more to do with how it goes across the chest then again it could just be the angle of the pic
It isn’t just the arm but the curvature of the torso. The upper body in the drawing is curved back but the spine is upright in the sculpt
Other than that is beautifully sculpted
