New Grombrindal Subscription Model on the Horizon
October 13, 2011 by brennon
Anyone who subscribes to White Dwarf from Games Workshop has over the past been able to get their hands on an exclusive model of the mysterious bearded legend Grombrindal. He has taken the guise of a astronaut, an aviator, and even a dwarf warrior would you believe!
Well here is the new subscription exclusive!
This piratical version of Grombrindal will be available from the 29th of October to current subscribers and newcomers alike.
Check out the blog for a 3D viewer on the newest incarnation.
Will you be grabbing one for your collection?

He’s cool, but not enough that I would get a WD sub.
Let me get this right. I need to get a subsciption with White Dwarf to BUY this? Um… that’s cheap of them. If I where them it would be a gift along with the every yearly sub. a person makes.
But this is GW after all.
If you buy the Sub in a Box you get it as part of the subscription.
The problem there is its £8 more, on top of WD subscription, If he was sold on his tod for 8 quid, fair enough, I’d get one just for the hell of it, but frankly white dwarf needs to change a helluva lot before I’ll even think about send coins in their direction again.
Given the way they treat white dwarf subs, Im surprised it wasnt offered to everyone else to buy at tescos now, and subs owners pay now but get it in december.
Thats what happens with the mag.
It is indeed a nice looking model but my question would be, why would you even want it? First of all, White Dwarf is only GW advertisement and a rather crappy one at that. Secondly, what would you use the model with? Sure, if you only plan on having it on display it might be a nice addition, but it can’t be used in any warhammer army/regiment other than those old mercenary pirate slayers (Long Drong slayers? Don’t remember the name). Ironically this model would fit right in with the Cutlass game.
Well the point is that its a collector piece. You’d either paint it up yourself or pay for someone to do a nice job for you and then keep it as a collectors item. People are sticklers for special edition stuff and limited edition pieces, and so having a piece like this would be a great draw to some people.
Same feeling with Games Day Miniatures.
I like the model, think it has a lot of character and is modelled really well.
This is just my opinion, but… Eight pounds for THAT, and you HAVE to pay to subscribe to the GW propaganda catalog ?
I love dwarves, but… No thanks.
Just look at the Pirate Dwarves for Cutlass if you need some… Better, cheaper, no strings attached.

I think this is the best exclusive WD model in a while, but I’m not going to get it. It’s just not worth it.
Well, if you are already a subscriber you can buy it. £8 yeah, quit steep, but non the less, even as a non dwarf player, i’ve bought it because it is a nice looking model.
Another option is to wait until august, (usually in september they sell the subs with a new model) and by then, your local GW should have a few of them lying around that they want to get rid off.
