Perry Miniatures are Exquisite!

As unabashed miniature-junkies, Romain and I have been drooling over the fantastic work of the Perry Twins with own range of Perry Miniatures.
Neither Romain nor I are really historical players, but the Perry's range of medieval and Asian historical miniatures is so good, that a simple paintjob is all it will take to create some fantastic fantasy characters and noble knights fit to grace any tabletop... just have a look at some of the amazing stuff on offer!
The Alan & Michael are probably best known for their tenure at Games Workshop, but their own range is sculpted in true 28mm scale, which makes it a much better fit with other historical and fantasy ranges, rather than the over-exaggerated heroic scale.
[@warzan: Or just 'exaggerated' eh??? lol]
If you haven't tried Perry Miniatures, then you really are missing out on what can only be described as the "fine wine of miniature sculpting". Simple and uncomplicated, yet perfectly proportioned and a joy to paint. I really do urge you all to take the plunge.
Yes, a joy to paint – and easy to add to any fantasy univers as all of them take from general real world history – sometimes with a twist but ofen a carbon copy
I like the LOtR and the work they did at Wargames Foundry as well
and ohh yes – Water is Wet – Refering to the subject of the entry 😉
Those are awesome.
No exaggeration to say they are stunning
superb sculpts, great value, good wide range of metals, growing range of excellent plastics, proper 28mm
The range combined with the excellent LoTR line means these guys are the best on the market IMO- some ranges cheaper, some better but not the total package
Perry minatures are the back bone of any historical players army. Historically accurate and excellent value for money, with great detail. Just remember they are true scale not heroic.
Well I’m planning to build an Empire army for Warhammer (a friend of mine got me into the game, finally) from the War of the Roses/Mercenaries plastics produced by Perry Miniatures. You just can’t beat the price. A few boxes and you’ll have an army. With a fraction of the price what GW is asking from you of similar sized army.
I have a pile of Samurai, and a few boxes of WotR stuff, all excellent.
Just have to find the time between random models, painting comps, and babies, to get some painted!
I am currently doing what Netdiver mentioned. The kits are very nice and cheap to boot. A way for me to be able to afford a WH fantasy army at all.
I’ve got a few boxes of these, will be making an Empire army out of them once their medieval knights are released. Quick tip – if you want to use Perry minis for warhammer, mantic bases work *very* well with Perry miniatures – the tab on the base of the model fits nicely inside the slot on the base, leaving only a small gap to easily fill (PVA will do it) much easier than a massive great effort of either using putty to blend the tab into a flat base and still being left with each model standing on a… Read more »
Well the project just went into action as I ordered two boxes of Mercenaries, one box of War of the Roses infantry, a few sets of WotR command frames (to be used as Greatswords) and 140 Mantic 20mm bases (@scarletsquig Thanks for the tip!). Luxuries of payday 🙂
I’m looking at a little over 130 infantry models. That’s a lot of painting! If I’m lucky I’ll be done by the release of the new army book. Heroes, wizards and the like I’ll mostly likely pull from the Dark Sword Miniatures ranges.
Not a bad army for under a ninety euros.
Wow! Koreans!! I never have thought they’d make it to minis. I am just making a 28mm scale Korean Turtle Ship (the worlds first armored naval vessel) and will have to snag these troops for the ride. Beautiful minis.
The Perry Bros. make Samurai?
Oh in the Metal range… darn. I thought they had Plastics Samurai.
Perry plastics are the single best value for money in the hobby right now, hands down. 20 pikemen/spearmen, 10 crossbowmen, 5 handgunners, and 5 swordsmen out of a $35 USD box? And they’re all beautiful sculpts? Feels pretty good!
