I didn’t know cool mini or not are re-releasing confrontation minis? I thought some other company had the rights to them?
Coolminiornot distributes Legacy miniatures, owners of the rights and masters for Confrontation… See my interview and related articles about it.
As a matter of fact, CMON has a partnership for the distribution of a great many brands, including Dark Ages !

That’s great to know. Thanks Romain for the info, once again 🙂
Awesome mini’s, but I find the $79.99 price tag for 5 models a bit expensive for my tastes.
It’s a shame they aren’t cheaper, I would love some for my WFB projects.
Nice as display pieces though.
I am indeed very disappointed at the price… Over 15 dollars a model is the price of Finecast or a collector’s piece, not the price of a normal resin miniature that was formerly a metal game miniature, sold with its card, no matter how well sculpted.
I’m also puzzled by the fact that they apparently don’t sell the miniatures individually !
Those who sell their old metal Rackham collection have nothing to worry about just yet in terms of competition…

Good point about the cost been close to Finecast and a collectors piece. I have a few Studio McVey models that are in the same price range, but the fact they are limited to a few hundred and come with a numbered certificate makes all the difference. I would assume that many others have looked at the cost and decided to not buy any? which is a real shame because I would think if they sold them at a competitive price point they would find it hard to keep up with production. I guess Legacy miniatures have taken the low… Read more »
Yes, and comparatively, Studio McVey’s sculpts are better… At elast more realistic. Sure, the Rackham range is beautiful, above and beyond GW in many respects, but most of their sculpts were still destined to be mass produced for a game, and were more caricature-ish than most… that is indeed what was interesting about their designs. Some of their barbarians were downright twisted… I know I would defintely buy SOME of the Rackham minis at that kind of price, if they were sold individually… However, in the above set, the only miniatures that interest me are the two gargoyles. And, guess… Read more »
I love Yannick Hennebo’s mini’s he is by far and away my favourite sculptor, his blog has me crying tears of joy 😀
If anyone reading this hasn’t seen it check out the link:

Many thanks for the info on sorceress, I will keep my eyes peeled.
Cheers
I agree with you about Legacy’s release methods. It almost feels like they are doing everything in their power to make these models as unpopular as possible: limited release, limited distribution, high prices, and sold only in sets. The only thing they are falling short of doing is replacing the whole range with prepainted plastics 😉
This will come off as blunt, but It feels like Legacy is after some easy profiteering with the range. I’d much prefer they’d release the resin minis at mass-production costs (which they should be able to afford, having all the masters already done), get the Confrontation going once more and use some of the return to pump some new life into the game.
As it is, it looks like they want to squeeze some cash out of the line, targeting it at collectors and painters
Was waiting to see how CMON was going to f*%k the public with the distribution rights to Confrontation and here it is. Why sell one when you can hijack people into having to buy all 5 for only 10x the price. Should have seen it coming considering the prices for all the stuff in their shop is slightly above what others are charging and their shipping costs are crap as well.
Of course, they’re the only ones currently distributing many of their products… Which makes comparisons impossible… But, to be fair, they deal pretty much exclusively in collector-level miniatures, seldom in games. Whenever possible, I avoid intermediaries and order directly from the source anyway (the Internet allows that, thankfully), but I very rarely order miniatures… I’m old fashioned that way : I don’t want to be disappointed by the miniature, as pictures can (and often do) lie. Facing the blister in your hand, you can truly make an informed decision. That means I seldom order online, and only from very reputable… Read more »
This is all a little bizarre. I have a great many Confrontation models (including all of these), and would very much like to add one or two of those I missed to my collection. Hopefully they’ll get round to the ones I want. I’d even pay this price per figure without worrying about it (I have before now, and more, on Ebay). However, I mustn’t be their intended audience as there is no way I’m buying 5 models when I want one. Not at this price. Luckily this month I don’t have to be annoyed. If they continue with this… Read more »
The issue for me is that by having to buy 5 in one go its really expensive, plus if you actually wanted to play c3 not the best model for selling minis for this game. If it was 5 figures that made an actual fighting band it would be expensive but usable. Different market i guess, I buy minis to play games not to have as a mantle piece display (although I hope they can do both)
At least they are available again I suppose and that may lead to something else eventually
Let me first say that we are all ears when it comes to Confrontation products. Afterall, it is the customers that determine the purchases. In fact, the reason why Wave 2 is delayed is because we decided to make some last minute square bases to accomodate the 3.5 players based on suggestions. So don’t think that we are all decided on the path of how we are releasing these waves. This is what I can confirm: * Hydra is now sold out, not surprising. There are no immediate plans to make anymore. * We are down to the last 31… Read more »
@coolminidavid thanks for the info. We can get saving now 🙂 The packs you list make more sense than the one above, at least to me. The Molochs were originally in a boxed set anyway, and all the Fiannas togetrh make an obvious set. The group shown above seems different. Whilst these are all Acheron they don’t seem to form any sort of coherent group, and as I said earlier I would expect both gamers and collectors to be happier if they were able to purchase individual figures they liked. Is this simply a case of not wanting to be… Read more »
@quirkworthy as soon as we know the price of the dragon, I will let you know. I am leaning to think that it will be very similar to the original price when Rackham was producing them, whatever that was, which seem to be the pattern so far, but don’t quote me on it. Note that everything is ultimately decided by our partners at Legacy, but we can give them important information to make the waves more interesting and more cohesive. So, make sure everyone speak up in terms of what they want to see, and we will do our best… Read more »
Thanks again @coolminidavid
Always nice to have companies that listen 🙂
Personnally, I’d happily pay the price you ask for SOME of the Rackham miniatures, done properly in resin… If they were sold individually and not in bunches. Many people wouldn’t pay for the whole group when one or two of the miniatures solely hold their interest, especially at that price. I’m sure your pricing has to be this high for all sorts of reasons, but, make no mistake, in this market, for resin, it is quite high… And it doesn’t help. I don’t speak for everyone, nor the BoW Team in that matter, but I’m sure many people are of… Read more »
Sums up my thoughts well Romain
I might be tempted by individual models to paint or maybe even use but tbh I could never see me buying the whole set.
Which makes it expensive for the one I want or the hassle of selling on the ones I don’t
This is the path trodden by Rackham originally. Sell the well made, beautiful minis for a premium price. Make it an exclusive club. The problem I see with bundling, and at such a high price, is that it kills much of the interest from gamers. Why make a new rules set, when it’ll cost truck loads of money just to have a playable force (much less an opponent to play!). I will be looking at using a giant figure or two and perhaps getting a pack or two, but I’d surely have gotten more of the Confrontation products if they’d… Read more »
