Have A Whale Of A Time With AntiMatter’s Deep Sea Scenery
January 15, 2017 by dracs
AntiMatter Games have two new models up for pre-order to bring the hazards of the deep sea to your tabletop. The rotting remains of one of the sea's greatest denizens and a tantalising yet lethal mollusc.
Great White Whale No More
First, we are treated to the tragic sight of a mighty whale carcass, rotting on the ocean floor.
Judging by the jaw, this was once a mighty sperm whale, much like the one from Moby Dick. But it's been a while since this one swam the seas and it is now home to all manner of gribbly creatures, such as giant hag fish which will attack if you get too close.
The model itself is made of resin and is 240mm in length. This alone makes it a pretty sizable terrain piece to take into account, but the fact that getting too close could lead to you joining it makes it an even better addition to your tabletop sea floor.
Don't Clam Up
Perhaps more dangerous than an infested whale carcass is the predatory Doom Clam.
At 70mm tall and 75mm in diameter, this is one massive piece of sea food. Of course, it's far more likely to be eating you as it apparently sucks in unwary divers who come to investigate it treasures.
This massive clam is exactly the sort of monster I would expect to be living in the sort of waters AntiMatter swim in, filled with treasure and surrounded by the bones of its victims.
Do you play Deep Wars? What do you think of these two scenery pieces?

Fun looking imaginative models! I no nothing of Deep Wars, but am glad that someone is doing something fresh.
That whale looks anything but fresh 🙂
Dad jokes aside I’d jump all over Deep Wars if I could find a player nearby
These two look like great, fun, scenery pieces. I too know almost nothing about the game. Would be interested to know more – particularly how they handle swimming and depths. I suppose it’s a similar question designers of air wars or space ship games have to confront.
they look great if that’s the clam from the rescuer’s check the skull for the diamond?
Another game on my list. It looks stunning and the minis are beautiful. The whale is awesome and makes me want to get the peg-leg out…
“Better sleep with a sober cannibal than a drunken Christian.” Brilliant advice.
I love these, then again I enjoy the entire setting, range and ruleset. So I might just be the slightly biased nutter here. Most definitely looking forward to getting my hands on these in a few weeks/months! The actual pieces are looking great and continue Antimatter Games’ tradition of creating dynamic models and terrain pieces. Even if the DeepWars setting isn’t your thing, quite understandable given how specific and single use the setting and models are (luckily there’s the land-based ShadowSea variant), they are well worth at least checking out to see just how much you can get done with… Read more »
Too right my friend! I am not a player (yet) but I have the rules. All the minis/models I have seen so far are stunning. My wife will tell you that even she can tell it must be good when I make “sex noises” while looking at really good stuff. ‘Moby’ could even be washed-up in another game. Zombies maybe? The setting of this game is what makes it more interesting to us. The environment is the worst enemy to your characters. It doesn’t matter how hard you are, in game, if you can’t breathe. There is no need to… Read more »
Recenly passed on my old painted collection to some friends in Germany who hit on some rough times that also saw them having to get ride of their regular games (old Specialist Games fans). Figured they’d have more fun with them then me and the game most definitely can scratch the Mordheim itch.
Will be starting some new warbands in the near future though. The new Neirads models are looking amazing and I do have a lot of unpainted models still around 😉
I am interest in the Whale Carcass. The only thing missing is a bowl of petunias.
“Oh no, not again…”
think they missed a trick in drop fleet with that one, low orbital cetacean bombardment FTW!
