While lacking a bit in options and individuality I really do feel all of the plastic 6 to a box lord of the rings cavalry models are some of the nicest miniatures being produced by GW. Very clean sculpts and only about £2 a model if you get them from a site with a wee discount. While the scale of the LotR models has seen some shifting about over the years they are still far closer to true scale than heroic which I really like and the horses while possibly not the best ever are certainly very nice and realistic.… Read more »
Speaking of inspiring, I just rewatched the extended editions for the umpteenth time, but this time, couldn’t help but calculate the best ways to paint what I was viewing…
I have these miniatures, and quite like them as well.
Not sure what you meant by having to put work in to get the best out of them. Horses are a suprisingly hard thing to paint well regardless. You really need some refernce stuff to get them right.
I just use two or three colours and some army painter. They always come out good. The LotR horses are some of the better sculpts going around.
Nice to see another LOTR video.
The horses do have some sort of Minas Tirith definition as their “helmets” have the white tree on it although it’s a bit difficult to see.
Heavy armor.
Heavily armed.
Highly mobile.
John just likes the things closest to the holy trinity of tanks no matter what the technological level…;-)
Can we see some of them assembled?
I think the LoTR sculpts are among the best that GW make.
Dagnabbit they suckered me into the hobby lol
Personally the true scale and refined look is more appealing than the herioc scale sculpts that can look a bit like caricatures.
Not got any Minas Trith cavalry in the stash but they do look smart.
Brings to mind that tragic charge scene so beautifully filmed for the movie :'(
ps Ditto! would be good to see you paint some please John!
