Flames Of War 4th Edition Coming March 2017
December 19, 2016 by brennon
Battlefront has now added more details to their website surrounding the launch of Flames Of War 4th Edition next year in March 2017.
As with all of their new edition launches the folks at Battlefront are going to be making the Rulebook and Special Rules book available for FREE but only if you bring in your 3rd Edition books to swap them over.
"This extensive library of Intelligence Handbooks covers Early-war 1939-41 and Late-war 1944-45 periods with a massive selection from a great variety of nations and campaigns.
Inside you will find rules for terrain, movement, shooting, artillery, and assault. In addition, there are ten missions and their rules. National special rules for the United States, Germany, Britain and the Soviet Union are included. Fortification, an armoured train, and night fighting rules are also covered"
There's even a breakdown of some of key points concerning the new Flames Of War over on their website HERE where they give you an idea of some of the changes thanks to Phil Yates himself.
"Under the heading of each Intelligence Handbook, you will find a list of rules sorted by nation. Each of these sections also contains updated versions of the Warrior rules from the same Intelligence Handbook."
Will you be diving into this new edition of the game? If that is the case make sure to keep an eye out for our Flames Of War 4th Edition Boot Camp which will be running just before the launch.
Keep an eye out for more information soon!

will be a great weekender boot camp.
Indeed it will!
😎
Looking good. But bootcamp wise i doubt that it will work out for me …
I’ll definately try to get to this boot camp.
But is the offer for both rule books? I only got the small Open Fire book. Is it also qualified for the swap?
Such things usually depend on how friendly your local shop is 🙂
Diving in full force. This is played in the area so I will hopefully get to do some regular gaming.
Looking forward to the new ruleset. Reading the FOW forums I understand that this is a contentious issue but I was one of those that really embraced the Team yankee style of play and was hoping for a similar redraft for late war FOW. At the moment my gaming group play Team Yankee exclusively and we would all welcome the chance to use our huge range of late war forces again. I was thinking about selling my WW2 range as I hadn’t touched it in over a year but this announcement has totally changed my mind. I hope that Vietnam… Read more »
I buy all my flames of war stuff online. There’s only a games workshop in the area. How do I swap my old rule book for the new 4th edition then?
I definitely like including much of the team Yankee rules streamlining. Overall makes things easier to grasp, and also more flexibility with rules. Example, before, as most infantry models only had 2 stats (motivation and skill) many game features were linked. If you wanted a model that was better in assaults, it also needed to be better at digging foxholes and avoiding enemy fire (all were skill based). If those were to differ, you needed a special rule. Now, as the stat card includes half a dozen stats all based of a roll number, there is more flexibility.
Interesting. I will swap my book and hope that rules are cleaned and simplified. I will give it a go but prfere battlegroup rules for my15mm scale
Trying to figure this whole thing out. If we bring in our old books they get a sticker put on them and we get to keep them? Second, we don’t get the actual rule book for 4th edition we get a rule book to work with the books we already have, does this mean we need to buy a new 4th book later? If we buy the midwar pack we get the 4th rule book which is 120 pages, the free version to replace our 3rd edition is 108 pages, this is where my confusion lies. Maybe they will answer… Read more »
i purchased my first 3rd edition copy via amazon, and my second via an on line company, how do I now obtain this offer relating to the 4th edition of FOW rules?.
