Revel in Christmas Carnage As The North Pole Comes Under Attack…Again!
December 16, 2016 by brennon
It's that time of year again where community member @oriskany takes us on a trip full of Christmas carnage as the North Pole Comes Under Attack once again.
The North Pole has had a hard time of it recently and over the past two years or so it has been attacked by Soviets from World War II AND Soviets from 1985.
North Pole Under Attack (2014)
North Pole Under Attack (2015)
The current attack, however, takes things to a whole new level and the North Pole is now under attack by very mean BattleTech Clans as they clearly were not happy with the Christmas presents they received this year.
The North Pole Is Under Attack (For A Third Time? Really?)
This time around the North Pole Defence Force (NPDF) are joined by Justin The Mammoth in an attempt to stop his workshop from being assailed by nefarious foes intent on ruining this time of year for everyone. You can check it out HERE.
The battle is spread out over a number of different posts within the thread giving you a running commentary of how the battle went. Fellow community member @gladesrunner also joined the fighting and helped play out this battle.
This is but a snippet of the action that happened over on the forums and you can start to delve deeper into and give your thoughts on the battle over there. We're particularly proud to see that Justin The Mammoth really does seem to be helping in the endeavour.
A big hats off to oriskany once again for putting this together over the last few years and it's wonderful to see it being a staple of the site. Hopefully we'll be able to see this every year with a few more tweaks here and there!
Have you checked this out yet?

@brennon the wormhole which enabled 1930’s soviets to attack the north pole in 2014 seems to have bled into this article, as the image now belongs to the 2015 assault, oh dear its all getting a bit paradoxical 😉
Ah bloody hell – I’ve changed them around now but thanks for spotting that @nakchak
lol no worries
Our historical guru from over the pond is a little bonkers!
It is the hurricanes.
@bonesbs – a little bonkers?
@ghent99 – yeah … the last thing I remember was howling wind and an uprooted palm tree sailing straight for my head … when I woke up I was sitting in front of a North Pole-themed battle table.
Weird, huh?
Things’ll get jolly ugly… but I believe Santa’s forces can sleigh their opponents. Good thing he’s wearing red.
WHAT THE DEUCE? How did this wind up on the front page?!? This is awesome, what a great surprise! Thanks, @brennon and everyone! 🙂 🙂 🙂
@elromanozo – Santa will “sleigh” his opponents. Awesome. 😀
I hate to root against Santa, but man those Battletech bring back so many fond memories …
I’ll sat this much, @revallan778 – these mechs did a helluva lot more **ahem** “damage” than the 1939 and 1985 Soviets in previous “games.” 😀
If you’re a BattleTech fan, you may have seen our article series we ran a while back (Part One, there were five parts in all):

We discovered a serious “nostalgia” treasure trove on that one! 😀

Lol 😉
really pleased to see north pole up on the main articles awesome stuff this just makes Victoria and I smile every time 🙂 🙂
@needlesbeckett – Santa with the AR 15 and Lee Majors with the minigun. Nice. Here’s my favorite all-time Christmas video – 1939’s Peace on Earth Actually gets very, very dark. With a very serious tone, especially considering the year it came out. Starts getting “good” at about 2:35. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4QnF0cIRw0 Animals are talking about “men” in the past tense, turns out all men are now extinct, and one of the oldest creatures in their little community is telling a story remembering what “men” were like. Yes, this makes it technically post-Apocalyptic. How men go extinct in this story is, well …… Read more »
Maybe next year it could be the naughty elves of the Legion of Everblight or those pagans from the Circle Ouroboros.
Thanks, @chrisg ! 😀
@blaeyn – you got the miniatures for that? The one limitation I have on these little side-projects is what miniatures we have hanging around and available. 😀
three bloody wars and just as deadly as the January sales.
I knew this would not be able to hide in the forum forever
But will the battlemechs make a pact with Santa?
Thanks, @zorg 😀 . . . Yep, Zorg … the only thing worse than everyone rushing out to buy everything on Black Friday is everyone going back in January to return it. Aren’t consumers intelligent? HEY! That’s an idea. Someone ELSE should do this next year, someone with that Mall set from the Walking Dead! They could do a Jingle All the Way “Black Friday Assault” game! Gotta get that last Rogue One toy! Thanks, @rasmus – I hope you’re finally back from your whirlwind tour. 10 Airports in 8 days? Is that what I read? 🙂 Good question, @foyble… Read more »
Thanks still en route but at least to night is a friendly bed at the in-wars and then just a quick train to Cleveland
Oh no! Not the In-Wars! 😀
the bloody January black Friday sales. Lol
