Building Your Dropfleet – Tips From Dave
Come and join Dave as he runs through just what tips you need when it comes to assembling your fleets for Dropfleet Commander.
There are some helpful hints in here for everyone who has picked up the game, no matter what faction, so get stuck in.
Take your time snipping shaltari easy to break the spines on them .
No magnets for me
Great advice, I am getting 13 Frigate sprues with my pledge. 4 Motherships, 3 Fleet carriers, then with magnetise 2 Cruisers, 2 Light Cruiser, 2 Heavy Cruiser. So each class can be any type
Oooops Rob got an attack of the shineys at 2:14 🙂
I’m amazed that anybody there can walk more than 5 feet without getting distracted by something amazing. 😉
yeah that shop was always jumping out at you and threatening to mug you for some dropfleet
Someone ask Dave about launch assets. Do drop ship troops count towards the total allowed?
Try asking in the questions post as well

Painting in sub-assemblies. Same way I did model cars when I was a kid.
One thing that always impresses me with Hawk Wargames and Dave is the attention to detail in all aspects of their games. They make sure the models, the way the models are placed on the sprues done the best possible way to which ships are placed in the starter sets and how each faction interact with each other. I think he really has a good vision of what he whats out of his games and how to accomplish it.
Excellent work from Dave holding that cup of tea. Held off of the slurp like a Trojan!
How very British! I approve!
I actually love that Hawk Dave has done what he can to make these magnetisable. I wanna do this with my fleets though the primary reason is to get loads of options to utterly corrupt my local club! Quite a few of my peeps seem interested!
Thanks for the tip panzertanker. Will do when I finally get them.
I am utterly gutted that I didn’t discover kickstarter until very recently. I’d have sold a kidney to get this game (says the guy who thought that board games were strictly monopoly and guess who until about 3 weeks ago)
It is out in retail so it might not cost any major organs – just everything in you wallet 😉
…..Lots of Modeling options for what it looks like, Cool…..
Always build and ask questions later ;-D
Good advise. I will be putting all of this to the test in the next few weeks.
That was some really useful and practical advice.
Some good tips. I have already magnatised my PHR so far, have all the other factions from my kickstarter to do.
I stuck to the recommended starter builds, baffling array of choices otherwise.
I was going build a few rare ones after building the starter as you can only have a few of them then work out what to do next.
I’m curious to know what makes Dave think the Ganymede is such a good ship. I mean, I don’t think it looks terrible but is it THAT good?
Thanks for the tips
So much planning required before putting the ships together in this game. I really want to magnetise everything ><
You don’t need to glue the fin sections onto your UCM cruisers, they stick really well via surface tension.
Thank you for the magnetisation tips.
first fleet as per the box before i even contemplate magnets, that way i can game get a working idea then plan from there
Why was Dave not drinking out of a mug built from space-station parts? 🙂
