Mount Up In Scimitars, Scorpions, Strikers & Spartans For Team Yankee
December 1, 2016 by brennon
The folks at Battlefront have put together some more plastic sets for you to pick up for British armies in Team Yankee. Two new boxes are available allowing you to make a variety of different vehicles.
First up we're going to be looking at the set allowing you to build either Scorpion or Scimitar Light Tanks for you to use in battle. These were versatile tanks that could take on different battlefield roles.
The set gives you enough components to build either four Scorpions or Scimitars and of course you could always try your hand at using magnets if you wanted to try and swap out some components here and there on the fly to make them useable as both.
These Light Tanks were exceptionally quick and could cover ground well when sent out on reconnaissance missions. The Scimitar also boasted a bigger and nastier cannon which was capable of engaging infantry, vehicles and even the odd bunker or two.
Spartans & Strikers
Following on from them we have some armoured transport which might have followed up behind these tanks that we've just been talking about with the chance to build a Spartan or Striker Troop.
As with the last boxed set you can build a variety of different vehicles within the box with different weapon load-outs, but only four of them.
Once again these vehicles were incredibly speedy meaning that they could get your men into position quickly, benefitting from the full protection of their armoured hulls. Once there the Scorpions and Spartans could then also support their troops with fire from their mounted guns.
The Striker had some anti-tank capabilities which meant it was quite the unassuming foe. The Spartan meanwhile had quite lightweight aluminium armour which weirdly was actually more protection for the men inside!
What do you think of these new boxes?

Possibly my favourite tank, the Scorpion.
nice units.
grab a box of these I think, looking nice!
Those are some nice looking little tanks.
I want them all!
This is what I think of when I want a “sports car”
With you there @johnlyons it’s just a beefed up jag! Aluminium monocoque chassis, aerodynamic profile, 4.2ltr straight six 190hp engine and a 7.62mm GPMG!!! Also fitted with handy beer storage (smoke dischargers) and comes in loads of different colours (of green/black/sandy yellow) 😉
I loved my spartan, 03FF25, she went like stink, just a pity her final drive box was a bag of crap and kept spraying oil on the steering brakes. Made turning more of a will she? Won’t she manoeuvre!! Brakes, well who needs brakes, just try to use hedges and snow posts to slow you down. Best bit was turning on the fuel pump, that glorious tick, tick, tick of anticipation and then firing up that Jaguar engine. Bliss, 🙂 if I had the spare cash and somewhere for it to live I’d buy one tomorrow. Best fun ever! Not… Read more »
