Monstrous New Releases From Warhammer Forge
September 9, 2011 by dracs
Warhammer Forge have got two new monstrous sculpt for all you fans of Skaven and Chaos Dwarves. Check these beasties out.
First up we have the Skaven Warlord on Brood Horror.
That's right now you can mount your warlords onto one of these hulking abominations from the twisted minds of Clan Moulder.
But that is not all to get excited over. Attacking out of the skies comes the fearsome sight of the Chaos Dwarf Bale Taurus!
Don't worry if you're not a Chaos Dwarf player though, the Warhammer Forge description of this creature says "none but the highest servants of Hashut and the most powerful of Fire wizards can hope to break and master these hellish bull-monsters" which suggests that fire wizards might also be able to take it as a mount.
It certainly looks better than the old Games Workshop Great Taurus which has been re-released for Storm of Magic.
What do you guys think of these latest offerings from Warhammer Forge? Do you think you'll be parting with your hard earned/stolen/saved-up-from-selling-elderly-family-members cash to get them?
That battle taurus is way better than the old one, but I can’t get my hea aroung what they did to its wings and what they replaced the horns with… I mean, how and why ?!
I don’t really like the skaven on his big beastie, it looks like a shaved guinea pig crossbred with a turd… But to each his own.
BoW Romain
lol Don’t beat about the bush Romain, say what you really think! 😉
Have to agree.
Also have noticed on winged beasts that there are some that locate the wings halfway down the back. This doesn’t look right to me especially on a bull with huge powerful shoulder muscles and a slim back.
Furthermore a mid placement puts a lateral form in the centre which is a balancing composition, whereas if the wings were further forward it would enhaced the sense of forward motion.
There seems to be a current tendency to have riders perched atop high saddles which doesn’t look right imho
I agree 100% with the saddle issue. The Ogre Kingdoms riders really looks dumb with a big fat ogre on such a high saddle. Now this Skaven warlord. Stop the madness of the high saddle before its to late.

No more high riders 😛
Quite a fan of both of them, and the Taurus is just light years better than than the finecast recreation. Been reading Thanquol’s Doom and so in a real skaven mood of late, and that Brood Horror will thrill my friend who plays skaven no end lol.
I really like the skaven release.
The bull’s armour reminds me of Scibor’s stuff – it’s layered over the top and the wings have hooks added seemingly ‘just because’. It’s a good sculpt, but doesn’t move me…maybe if the armour was optional (and the standard model had its own horns rather than thin armour replacements) it could work?
Was wondering why they bothered to resurrect the old bull in Finecast when they had this chap coming out. Would have thought it be better to issue this one in plastic or Finecast rather than resin. Irrespective of the reservations about horns and hooks, it is leaps and bounds ahead of the old model.
I agree. I doubt they’ll sell many of that finecast tauros or the lammasu which is an awful model.
