Plastic Pumas & Tigers Join The German War Effort In Flames Of War
November 24, 2016 by brennon
Flames Of War welcomes two new plastic sets this week as we get a look at both the new Puma Panzerspäh Platoon and the Tiger I E Platoon. Each of these sets comes with the ability to build a bevy of vehicles for use in your World War II games.
First up we're going to be looking at the Puma Panzerspäh Platoon which comes with six models that you can play around with.
Inside you'll find a few variants of the Sd Kfz that you can play around with. Each comes with different weapon options meaning that you can hone your force to fit with the period you're fighting in and the types of enemies you're engaging.
This was a particularly effective armoured car and when you started looking at switching things up and adding in the likes of the 7.5cm PaK40 anti-tank gun you ended up taking things to another level.
However, you choose to build your Puma Platoon you are going to have all manner of battlefield options open to you and it helps that they look rather cool too. I think the Germans definitely had the best looking armoured cars during the period.
Tiger Time
Of course, the main reason for building a German army are their tanks and the Tiger I E Platoon is looking rather smashing indeed, especially since you get a lovely plastic kit to play around with now.
Inside this set you get five different vehicles to build making some of the heaviest and nastiest tanks available during World War II.
This was one of the most feared opponents to face on the battlefield during the war and with good reason. With heavy armour and a dangerously powerful cannon it was going to rip a hole in whatever you sat before it.
I'm starting to think that the best way to deal with a Tiger tank was to run away from it and wait for it to just go away! With a platoon of them rolling towards you maybe it was time to either call in an artillery strike or just give up there and then!
What do you think of the new plastic kits?
"With a platoon of them rolling towards you maybe it was time to either call in an artillery strike or just give up there and then!"
Those are welcome addition for Germans in FoW.
This resource is useful to understand Sd Kfz 234 variants:

no reason to fear a tiger if you play mid or late war if you plan for the worst!
but this is good news as now finaly the tiger can be released for Tanks!
but i wont swap out my resin late war tiger army for a plastic army as i like the weight of the old resin models.
Good looking models no doubt..
With so many plastics available now I won’t have any excuses to actually try out FoW at some stage 😉
There’s nothing stopping you from trying Battlegroup either …
That’s the best thing about historical gaming.
They look good, i’m sorely tempted to buy some, though my German army is at the moment taking over my garage. I have one for Bolt Action , they look good painted up.
Bolt Action has been a godsend for 28mm ww2 vehicles – loving these plastic kit releases
Can we please have an unboxing of these two ?
The resident tank god needs to tell us about all the good and bad stuff about these things.
brilliant and great choice of variants for the puma.
Lovin’ these, esp the Puma kit.. to play Battlegroup with.
Love these will be picking up a bunch of each!!!!
I would love to see early war plastics!!
