Hasslefree’s Barbarian Warrior Women Take Shape
November 20, 2016 by brennon
Hasslefree has been tinkering away making sure that their Barbarian Women come together nicely. Here we have three different models for you to check out...
First up we have this warrior wearing a rather decorative looking set of armour, even if there's very little of it. The actual real focus point of the model for me, however, is that awesome fur-lined cloak.
Secondly, we're going to be getting a little bit more punky with this warrior woman wearing leather and fur with a rather cruel looking axe in hand.
She is looking a little more relaxed but I'm sure she'd go into a berserker rage. Maybe a splash of gore would give you a different impression of her.
Next up we have a warrior woman who looks like she might have embraced some of the clothing choices of Belit from the world of Conan.
Admittedly I don't remember Belit swinging around a massive flail but she would not hesitate to crush someone who got in her way we reckon.
What do you think?

Hilarious.
excellent sculpts, lots of character and great the poses. good job on bringing the concept art to life.
Mmmm… really tast- *cough* -ful. Yes, very beautiful sculpts.
In fact these might be the first one to three miniatures of Hasslefree I truely consider acquiring.
Now, please, someone do a female warrior/barbarian realistic in sculpting techique and style, and with character. Neither forcedly sexualised nor overly grimdark but a bit attractive and despite all ruggedess with a sense of intellect and a whisp of humour.
Think: Picker, Seren Pedac, Hurl, Sandalath Drukorlat, Spite, Menandore… Did no one read the Malazan series by Erikson and Esslemont?
Keep an eye on this range – there are versions planned of all the characters unlocked in this campaign from “sky-clad” up to full arctic wear….
Those are shaping up to be really nice sculpts. It does give promise tha expect that finished sculpts are going to be top notch.
Absolutely great sculpts, that have kev white written al over them, you can discus that they are a little too thinly dressed, but maybe these girls now something we don’t. The secrets of bear-fat or seal wax al over there lovely body’s. And the smell keeps the civilised idiots away.
Remember too, that the idea behind this KS and sculpts was to have 3 levels of “dress”… there are these pin up versions… which look great… then there are the nude versions… which honestly I can only see as a flesh painting experiment that no one else will see… or maybe some weird adult diorama that no one else probably wants to see… and then there will be more fully clothed “winter” versions… so if the pin up/bikini versions are interesting but not quite what you are looking for, there is a good chance the more winter-dressed versions might be… Read more »
I think the concept behind it was that you had the naked figure and could then sculpt the clothing yourself as an advanced way of modelling, which is what quite a few people have done. I’ll not deny that both of the uses you’ve suggested are likely to happen, among many others different from the intent.
If you want to learn to sculpt- start out by sculpting clothing, weapons and such on naked minis. That’s the way to go.
After you feel comfortable with that, move on to some of the ‘beginner dollies’ and eventually start sculpting completely from scratch.
The skill level needed to get the basic anatomy right is pretty high, and getting it wrong can wreck the rest of your mini, so starting from a nude will really help you get the whole thing working.
Nice models, i might go for the 1st & 3rd one for my barbarian warband in Frostgrave… although i just bought a Boudi and a vicking-esque women whose name eludes me to add females in that warband (the plastic box should’ve at least had one female sculp).
they are good are they Conan’s exes?

Really? You find that to be the focal point on the mini? I thought the focal point on all three was a little more front and center…
