Happy Sunday. Think I will watch this to fall asleep
This is what my Saturday night has come to. 1:00 AM go to BoW. No XLBS. Hit F5. Still no XLBS. My gods, the internet is broken! 1:01 AM. F5. Some hesitation building. Page loads and still no XLBS. 1:02 AM. F5, F5, F5. Withdrawal symptoms set in. Heart rate accelerates. 1:03 AM. Checks forums for announcements of the death of a Beast. Nothing, go back to the main page. 1:04 AM. The world is on fire, and I’m the only one left. The zombies have risen. The aliens invaded and Ireland is in smoking ruins. 1:05 AM, XLBS loads.… Read more »
Happy Sunday!
The warships were two Dutch, and one British – and it was in the far east the had been lost.
And you should know there was folks in America in 1815, you seem to like the battle of New Orleans from the war of 1812 (or just after the war …)
The lost ships were in Indonesia. people saw salvage ships on their location.
In our newspaper it stated that there were 3 Dutch shipwrecks from WWII before the coast of Indonesia. Two are completely gone and big parts of the third. They think that the wrecks were scrapped for the metal, just like Justin said. And It seems that there are hundreds of shipwrecks in the area.
The Americans also noticed that somebody has been poking around the wreck of the USS Houston without permission, that is located in that area.
Glad you enjoyed it I can supply you with some more any time. We even got Justin on board.
Justin there were people in America in 1815. American Revolution was 1776 and had a big role in destroying France and letting Napoleon come to power. The British fought the United States from 1812-1815 during the War of 1812 or The Forgotten War where those pesky Canadians burned down the Government and the Americans created the White House.
You really got me with that Neybours joke well done sir.
Happy Sunday!
Is there a place or the reistance down in the DFC cities – fighting back against the invaders?
Battleships in the Dead Sea? Red Sea maybe.. Lol!
American Declaration of INdependence – 1777… Battle of Waterloo 1815… do the Maths!
New Carnevale location? N’Awlinz baay – N’Awlinz
How to deal with a charging line of Elephants: Everyone knows – even though Legolas took his Olliphant from behind (?!?) – that you leap up onto it, kill its inhabitants, drive something sharp into its brain and leap off before it knocks over all the others in a dominos like fashion.
Certainly Cohen the Barbarian should be able to do so… 😉
@dignity great job having Warren doing a Goldfish impression when asked what do you call a space battlefield 🙂 As for the resistance in space in DFC, it worked for Star Wars hehe. @warzan don’t be silly it wasn’t aliens, it was the Kraken warming up for a resurgence having seen the Mythic Pantheon KS. He’s getting in some battleship dumbbell curls to look the part. On Naval items did you know World of Warships/World of Tanks may be joining with sandboxr so you can 3d print your ships and tanks and will be customisable to match yours in game.… Read more »
Here’s a conspiracy theory for you to consider.
The so called pandemic Spanish flu c1918-1920.
60-100 million dead.
Freak of nature or bacteriological warfare to depopulate the enemy and finish the war?
@warzan if ‘Spanish Flu’ was a result of bacteriological warfare that got out of control, then what of Chinese Flu, Bird Flu and Swine Flu? Are they naturally occurring strains of a distant cousin or is there something more sinister afoot? (Cue x-files music) 😉
I think you will find that there were people in America before Europeans arrived.
And they are still battling for their rights – look at what is happening at Standing Rock.
Im pretty sure Justin was wondering about the early colonists not the indiginous people 🙂
Although you can never be sure!!! 😉

In regards to Ney at Waterloo there is some discussion that he was trying to get back into Napoleons good books after screwing up at Quatre Bras a few day earlier so launched the cavalry early to try and show Napoleon he gadnt list his nerve
Why was Ney sentenced to death. Mainly because he had pledged allegiance to the new French King and promised to capture Napoleon when he landed at Grenoble do was unlike the rest if the French army as s traitor
The main idea is that France was still a rebellious powder keg as shown by Napoleons easy take over and they needed to have him beaten in a large battle that would destroy the peoples faith in him. What better way than to kill tens of thousands of Frenchmen in crazy assaults. Remember the average death toll for a Napoleonic Battle was very low. At the Battle of the Pyramids Napoleon lost 29 men out of 20,000 At the Battle of Talavera the French lost 7300 out of 46,000 At the Battle of Salamanca the French lost 6000 out of… Read more »
David Chandler, author of The Campaigns of Napoleon, always used to refer to Ney as “the bravest of the brave, and the thickest of the thick.”
I would agree with you that Ney suffered trauma in the Russian campaign. I have to disagree with the idea that Ney faked his execution, however, as given that he allowed Napoleon to return, I am sure his death was watched by enough officials of the new French government that he could not get away with that.
Elon Musk didn’t create electric cars. They are very old they were just slow and couldn’t go very far also most electric car companies made ugly or funny looking ones. So he made a fast cool looking one with a decent action radius.
@Warzan they were 3 Dutch battleships in the Java sea. https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/2198030/mystery-disappearance-dutch-battleships-sunk-japanese-wwii-vanish-seabed/
Justin was right all ships has been cut to peaces and sold as scrap.
Had a look at the hex jig and have been trying to do costing compared to the Hex terrain Kallistra do. Yes the Kallistra stuff uis expensive but it’s made from hard plastic so will last a long time. Our group has made polystyrene hexes before and sadly they do damage easily so we tended to have to replace quite a lot over the years we used it. Saying that I think this guy’s idea us fabulous and a lot more games are going to hex or squares to speed games up in regards to movement and more traditional games… Read more »
*Stares at my 400+ hours played on Elder Scrolls: Skyrim*
Also, that neighbours joke had me chuckling!
To the left!!!
Happy Sunday all, great show as always.
@warzan there is a conspiracy dating back to the Roman period, that suggests captured legionnaires ended up in Han ruled China.
http://beyondthirtynine.com/a-roman-legion-lost-in-china-2/
Is this the one where Roman soldiers were sold as slaves after the capture of Valerian
I think this one is highly possible. Trajan without knowing it got within a days march of the Chinese frontier and China wasn’t as isolated at that time as historians first thought
This is after the defeat of Crassus by the Persian or Parthian Empire, captured Romans were taken in to the Empire and enlisted. It’s believe they were posted near the border with Han China.
Another article on the theory: http://www.historicmysteries.com/a-roman-legion-in-china/
It is very possible – these Romans (Crassus) and later Legionaries who fought in Nero’s Armenian War ended up in Merv-Bactria 🙂

there are so many great wargame scenarios could be played in the wider ancient world…

their ship probably got attacked by one of those sea monsters!
Devastated to hear the pub has been sold.. 🙁 Good news that there is one even nearer tho and having the option to separate us from the general public is probably only wise. @commodorerob and I can talk about Cromwell without getting lynched then. Concerning DFC, I am actually with @dignity in this one, a Resistance Fleet, illogical and rag tag as it it might be, would be awesome. I’m sure over a few pints Dave will come up with a plausible explanation why they could have access to ships… Not sure about the Ney ‘conspiracy’. Stabbing himself in the… Read more »
Yea, I could see a Battlestar making it into the fleet! 😉
@warzan it’s not the kids, just your age making you flag early.
Hmm, that sounded comforting in my head, before I hit “send”.
The Ney theory may have some credence a lot of the old Napoleon diehards from the Old Guard moved to Louisiana after Waterloo to avoid persecution, there is
even anold John Wayne movie about it with Oliver Hardy of Laurel and Hardy fame as his sidekick.
Just started to write that. You saved me the trouble. 🙂
Given the facts you presented on the Ney conspiracy I’d say he doublecrossed Napoleon. Beause if Napoleon was exiled instead of executed, why wouldn’t Ney be treated the same way? If he was loyal to Napoleon, perhaps there was too much risk of them getting together again and making another attempt at disturbing the power balance. But if Ney had secretly aided the king then there was the risk of Napoleon finding out or the conspiracy becoming public in some other way, damaging the reputation of the king. What did you do in those times when you wanted to get… Read more »
There are a number of Harry Potter board games, including a version of Cluedo.
The most recent enter is Harry Potter: Hogwarts Battle from USAopoly, which I think came out at or around Gen Con this year.
I’ve got the Cluedo one!!! 🙂
Will be nice to see one with amazing miniatures though 🙂
