Army Painter Unboxing: Wargamers Complete Paint Set
November 18, 2016 by elromanozo
Today Justin leaves Romain in the capable hands of John in the painting studio to unbox Army Painter's amazing new Wargamers Complete Paint Set.
This paint set is perfect for those confident painters who are looking to change over to a complete brand without the need for much mixing involved.
Check out the Mega Paint set if you're looking for a more beginner box which we think is much, much better than the standard ten paint pot beginner box sets.
Includes...
- 124x Warpaints; 96 Acrylic Warpaints, 8 Metallic Warpaints, 11 Quickshade Washes and 9 Effects Warpaints,
- 5x Wargamer Brushes
- 1x The Army Painter Painting Guide
What's your favourite colour in the set?

You can box that right back up and send it to me!
I’ve been looking at using acrylic nail polish racks to hold paints. What is the diameter of a pot?
I measured a half dozen at 24mm so call it 25 to account for possible swelling in the wood.
Thanks!
One inch.
Thanks, Romain.
upvc 32mm channel works better, 3 meters for £3.50 cut to length and no more nails it to your wall, fits citadel, dropper, p3 and tamiya pot styles.
@beetle this sort of stuff:

Looks organized. I don’t have the wall space for it, alas, only desk space.
you could just glue the channel to a sheet of mdf cut to size, my hobby space is about to be reduced so im currently working out how to make it into a case, might repurpose an old dart board cupboard for a desk tidy/station
Romain and John are a great team!
Agreed, they are like a couple of classmates who just found their first adult magazine.
That’s in the outtakes… 😉
love to see more John and Romain videos, especially a painting budda pastiche with Romain shoulder surfing John painting a tank suggesting interesting highlights lol
If we had more time to film them, I’d be glad to ! Alas, filming time is in crucially limited supply.
I’d watch more of their reviews, a lot of fun.
@johnlyons Any chance you’ll run through this set to list off the most accurate colours for the ww2 countries(probably including the six or seven variants of US uniforms)? I sorta want to start doing better than “looks right to me”…
Not specific to this but warlords guides are good
aww what a lovely couple 😀 I would love to get that under christmas stree.
Look at how much fun they have together.
Would love to have that paint set but their is one major problem Army Painter will not ship to Canada
That is sad indeed ! 🙁
what a brilliant paint box I did that with all the GW paint sets many moons ago a lot died over the years.
Hmm, if I sell my daughter and the dog… I might be able to swing it.
So tempting…
As I have no experience with Army Painter yet: How well do they work through an airbrush when thinned? And do they have a dedicated thinner and cleaner or will the Vallejo ones work?
From experience, they work very well in an airbrush with minimal thinning (a drop of water or so, depending on the project). That’s true of the metallics as well. The pigments are quite fine, so no problem here, as long as you clean your airbrush afterwards… but you should do that no matter what ! 🙂
Thank you very much for the reply. So the last excuse to not get this set is gone 🙂
My only concern with a kit like this is that you will not use them all and over time many will simply dry out and go to waste. Otherwise, the idea of having everything at your finger tips ready to go at any time is fabulous
I wouldn’t worry about disuse. But anyway, it would take an extremely long time for them to go to waste… it’s not as if the caps are Citadel. they’re quite secure, and the paint doesn’t dry in the pots. I’ve got vallejo paints from a decade ago that are still good, and they’re in the same bottles.
Thank you for the reply. I will further consider getting the kit. I love that you have everything there ready to experiment with.
You shouldn’t have any problems @turbocooler it was mostly my fault the paints died at times when I had no time to paint or give paint some ER mixing time or rehydrate any old leaky pots.
I didn’t hear a price quoted. Can we have UK prices please when doing an unboxing
Thanks
We never quote prices on BoW, as a policy. These are reviews, and any price quoting would be based on the price at one specific retailer at the detriment of others. Prices, as availability, may vary depending on distributors, retailers, countries and postage… and of course, time from the day the video airs. How could we choose, and on what basis ? I will also respectfully point out that we are watched by people in a great many countries, so pounds aren’t actually used by most of our viewers. The US and Australia, of course, but also all over Europe,… Read more »
I could not resist in getting a complete collection of paints especially after you guys done the unboxing – so I ordered one and my order arrived this morning… I’m really impressed – so many awesome colours….
