Battle Systems’ Sci-Fi II Terrain Kickstarter Begins!
October 21, 2016 by brennon
The campaign for Battle Systems' Sci-Fi II Terrain has now begun on Kickstarter. A whole new selection of terrain and more is coming your way for all manner of 28/32mm wargames.
The focus here is on creating a range of terrain that is easy to put together, requires no painting and will make your gaming table look awesome in a few minutes. Twin that with the fact you can tweak it each time you come to play and you've got the makings of a great 'Lego Set' for want of a better phrase!
As you can see here there are a few examples of exactly what kind of terrain you can make. Huge towers like these are impressive but for me the intricate detail that you can get when you look at the set as interiors and more really brings it to life.
If you're interested in exactly how this all goes together then you can check out the video shown at the top of the page. It's very simple as you'll see.
They show you through some of the ways you can assemble your terrain and the way the new plastic clips give you better solutions to creating your tabletop landscape.
The Pledges
There are two big pledges for the game with the Frontier Pledge...
...and the Galactic Pledge.
Importantly the kit that you pick up with each of the pledges now goes right back into the box that it came from. So, when it comes to storing your terrain you don't have to worry about where to put it. Of course, if you're making the terrain a bit more permanent then you might have some issues.
Either way there's plenty of terrain here for a 2x2 and a 4x2 board but of course, you can take it to the next level and spread this out to show off smaller facilities and separate buildings if needed.
Stretch Goals
They're focusing in on just one at the moment which adds more Walls, Half Walls and Hatches.
So there you have it. The campaign has launched and there will no doubt be even more to come for this one as it grows. The terrain is looking amazing and there are already a few games we'd like to play out on this stuff!
We're thinking Deadzone, Warpath, Infinity, MERCS, the upcoming Rogue Star, Alien Vs Predator, Warzone and more would all suit this and that's without including the big daddy of Warhammer 40,000!
What do you think?

It’s going great guns already
all the scenery they make look great for gaming.
If only pledging for two 2×2 sers meant it would fill a 4×4 board rather than just a 2×4 board… 😉
They claim a 2×2 set can go 2×4 if you build wide rather than up (they give an example in the video), if you add another game mat. So two sets + 2 mats can do a 4×4.
Remember, you’ll get a lot of free extras in the stretch goals – the freebies have went heavy on walls this time, so that really helps each set fill more surface area.
And each set you pledge for gets another full set of the freebies – I reckon a 2 set pledge will nicely cover a 4×4 table by the time we’re done with this KS.
Its again very beautifull
Battle Systems so hot right now, Battle Systems. 😀 Love it! 🙂
An amazing system with a lot of potential across a number of games we play.
Looks like I will be buying more. Invested heavily in the urban apocalypsesetup and the one thing I wished was that I had purchased more SF mats for the set I got later.
I like the buildingg in the dvd box concept, quite cool. Now get som WW2 stuff up and running!
I’ve gone big in all three…and not four…of their sets and the versatility is just crazy. BS has broken away from their “ramp” setups which will make assembly even faster and easier, but there is still a lot that can be mix-and-matched between the old sets and the new. I also like that I’ll have the option of showcasing different flavors of scenery based on location. I.e. ramp walls for a certain base or ship or species’ design…non-ramp walls for other species’ architecture and ship design. Between Sci-fi I, Fantasy, Urban Apocalypse ( with City Block, Suburbs, & Shanty Town),… Read more »
That’s supposed to be “and now four”.
Glad to see this going so well – in for 1 set just now, and will doubtless add in some extras as more stretch goals come in. I’m think I’m very likely to add in a 2nd core set during the pledge manager – don’t think the toy budget will stretch to it this month with Christmas coming up.
Every base pledge you back for currently gives you 29 additional free pieces added to the set. That’s 17 wall pieces and a ton of other goodies. And remember…that list is free with EVERY base pledge. Backing for a Frontier set? 1x stretch goal freebies = 29 extra pieces currently. Backing for a Frontier and a Galactic set? 2x SG freebies = 58 pieces currently. Backing for a variety of four Frontier &/or Galactic sets? 4x SG freebies = 116 free pieces currently! We’ve been adding to that list multiple times a day these last few days…and today doesn’t look… Read more »
Has anyone try using the battle system for dropzone commander. I’m wonder if it would work for like a big hanger spaces. Has any one try this with the sci-fi one and have pictures of how it looks.
I actually purchased the firs Sci-fi set for the purpose of 6mm Robotech minis terrain…big enough for 40′ tall aliens and mecha to walk through hallways and oversized doors.
I’ve yet to build any of the Robotech minis, so I can’t show a size comparison.
