Expanding Our Team: Looking For A Graphic/Web Designer
October 19, 2016 by warzan
We are hoping to expand our little team and add another valued member to the madness that is Beasts of War. With work progressing on the second iteration of the Beasts of War website, we’d like to add a member to the development team.
Would you like to join the engine room of this community and help us create the coolest stuff? If yes, then read on...
WHO?
We are looking for a talented and creative Graphic and Web Designer.
You must have a great working knowledge of the following...
- Photoshop
- HTML5
- CSS
- WordPress
- Responsive Design
- Any other related front end technologies you think may be relevant...
You should have a decent working knowledge of...
- PHP
- Javascript
- LAMP Stack
NOTE: Please ensure you do have good working knowledge/experience of the above as you will be dropped straight into the deep end on this!
WHAT?
You will be working with us directly as part of the development team (Lloyd, Tom, Tim & Warren), primarily on the design and front-end development of the next version of Beasts of War (but there are other projects as well). Beasts of War can be a bit like a pressure cooker at times, so being self-disciplined and a good communicator is a must! It’s hard work, but creatively can be very satisfying!
WHERE?
Our preference is for a fulltime member to join us here at our studios in Coleraine (Northern Ireland), but we are open to the possibility of the right person working remotely.
WHEN & HOW MUCH?
Start Date and Salary will be negotiated with the individual we feel is the best fit.
HOW To Apply
To apply, go here and give us as much detail, examples, and information as you can...

We look forward to hearing from you.
This is the next (I was going to post last lol) big bottleneck for us at the moment, so with a bit of luck finding the right person here will open the throttle even further on developments right across the community.
We have our fingers crossed we meet the right person #feelslikedatingagain lol
If only I had the skills, the knowledge and was located nearby.
Other than that, I’d be perfect 😉
How hard can it be? 😉
I’ve shared this on the social network thingie, as have others… I wish I could do more !
Romain tech guru, ha ha
I really laughed when I saw this ‘the social network thingie’ ha ha!
Congrats on the growth. I will pass this around but most people I know are in the States.
If only I had any of the required skills. If you ever need a fraud investigator let me know
If you ever need advice on ancient law….
In terms of skills, knowledge of json, jquery (and jquery mobile), wordpress theming, HTML5, bootstrap, less/sass, angle.js or knockout would be really desirable, as would a working knowledge of GIT, brackets (awesome text editor), socket.io and redis and other modern dev tools
Exciting times. Good luck finding the right candidate.
@nakchak
All Greek to me..lol!
My mobile is utter magic to me already. However, if you need a wisdom tooth out I’m your man 😎
Good luck finding the ‘right’ one!
Good luck on finding the right person, sadly in the wrong field…lol
I am actually quite skilled in a little less than half of these requirements, and ass-clown ignorant in all the rest. 🙁 Also, on the wrong side of the Atlantic.
@oriskany suspect you are busy enough as it is as well 😉 As for being ass clown ignorant, everything is built on the bedrock of HTML, CSS and Javascript (but thats fairly transparent from a design perspective), so as long as you can cover two points in that triangle you will know more that 99% of anyone else on the net 🙂
good luck to the employee who get this dream job.
I’m quite good at stick figures if that’s a requirement
I might just lie and wing it.
or possibly out source and skim off the top and take the credit.
Ahhh – if only I was 20 years younger without a mortgage or kids… of course 80% of your tech stack didn’t exist then, but I was a techie at the cutting edge once.
If we got a group together who all knew one different discipline then that would be about 10 people. We could all live at the B&B and Beasts of War would have a ready made boot camp. Sorted now to find my dummies book on photoshop…………. Good Luck to the lucky bugger who gets this. What a dream job. 🙂
So glad to see responsive design being on of the criteria!
Oh yes, one thing which is paramount for BoW 2.0 is a compelling multi screen experience
I’m skilled in some of these areas, but not all. If only I could become an expert in the rest over night! 😛
Seriously though, I hope you find someone awesome soon. Can’t wait to see what’s in store for BOW next!
@loucifer Cant go far wrong with w3schools.com for good tutorials and base line knowledge of the relevant techs.
The big one is responsive design and modern CSS (less/sass) techniques, the javascript side of things really is a know enough to be dangerous requirement 🙂
I’m happy with Photoshop, HTML5 and WordPress, but I’ve still got my training wheels on when it comes to CSS, PHP and Javascript. I’ll get there one day! 😀
I’ve also played around a bit with Python during my degree. That’s good fun! Although, it wasn’t so much fun when I wrote my entire final project in Python, only to find out that I needed to do it all again Javascript. I did it, but I was not a happy bunny! lol
I can drink cups of tea and nod sagely.
I excel at this!
*sips tea*
*nods*
That’d be the coolest job! I can do all of that aside from…. stack lamps? lol. Being half the world away counts me well and truly out.
Good luck finding someone and grats on who that is!
I have the knowledge and experience using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, Premiere and After Effects. Also used Avid and Final Cut, but my HTML, ASP, JavaScript, Action Script, SQL, PHP and WordPress is very rusty. otherwise I’d apply and I’d be happy to relocate.
Other Additional skills include Photography (British Institute Of Professional Photography Qualified), Video Camera Operation, also worked in Digital Maketing and PR Communications, alas my Webb development skills are as I said very rusty.
Why don’t you apply? You never know 🙂
Responsive design. Yes! It will be good to see your site mobile friendly.
probably unwanted advice but if you are using LAMP you should take a look at postgres. Sounds like your database is getting to the size postgres would make things better.
I am sure your servers run free BSD….
I enjoy your work hope it all goes well for you all.
