X-Men Logan Poster and Plot Details Get Revealed
October 6, 2016 by dracs
Logan, the third installment in the stand-alone X-Men Wolverine movies and Hugh Jackman's last time as the character, has had its first poster revealed, along with some interesting plot details.
Logan is set in the year 2024, a world where mutant births have started to decline and the existing mutants are having a rough time of it. Wolverine is looking after Professor X (played by Patrick Stewart) whose powers have become unstable, while old age has meant that his own healing factor is finally failing, leading him to self-medicate with alcohol to deal with the pain.
As usual with the X-Men movies, there is a secret government plot going on. This time they are looking to turn young mutants into weapons, with the main villain being the evil (and ridiculously named) Mister Sinister.
The child in the poster has also been revealed as being a mutant who Logan will take care of. She has a similar power to his own, but with only two claws instead of three. Wait a minute...
The movie is set to be based on the Old Man Logan comics, a what-if story which places Wolverine in a post-apocalyptic America ruled by super-villains.
This comic is one I have really mixed feelings about. True, the setting is rather cool, but it comes across as unrelentingly mean-spirited towards a lot of the characters, and Mark Millar's obsession with ultra-violence can be a bit disturbing at times.
Still, if the movies can redeem Mark's Civil War series then there is hope for this yet.
Are you hopeful for this new movie?

Im looking forward to it. I’ve liked all the movies except for the last stand, and I really enjoyed the Wolverine stand-alone movies. I don’t think its going to madly deviate from the tone or style with ultra violence.
I also liked the stand alone Wolverine movies. I’ll definitely see this one. I was wondering when Sinister was going to get involved. In the X-men comics he plays a fairly big role at times.
I honestly can’t stand it anytime they bring up continuity that involves Wolverine having Bone Claws. The version where that was added to him worked so much better.
I really hope they find some other way to refer to Mr. Sinister, like how they changed the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants.
Oh, didn’t they establish in the films that Wolverine doesn’t age? I guess they’ve gone back on that one too, so it is hard to say.
yes wolverine & his brother sabretooth don’t age it the films. @odinsgrandson
I’m just not a fan of any of these X-Men/Wolverine movies as “X-Men” movies. Not since they butchered the original line-up…who are no longer the “first class”…Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Angel, Beast, & Ice Man. Cyclops and Marvel Girl were always my favorites…and they did those characters NO favors at all in these movies. I keep hoping, sorry, that they’ll fail so that maybe Marvel’s film company will get the rights back and do them correctly. The only things I’ve enjoyed from the movies that I think were very well done…the casting on Professor X (Patrick Stewart) and Logan (Hugh Jackman)… Read more »
So they’ll pretty much just butcher both Logan and Laura to get one final movie out of it? Since when does Logan age? I though it was pretty well established that his healing factor, much as with Sabertooth and Deadpool, means that he doesn’t age. And where does X-23 fit into it? Yes, she’s a clone of Wolverine (sort of, anyway), but in the comics he didn’t meet her, wasn’t even aware of her existence, until she was about 16 years old. Honestly, I’m getting a bit tired of Marvel messing around with the continuity. I like the characters because… Read more »
An aged Wolverine would actually be true to the comic they appear to be drawing from…about the first thing they’ve done true to the comics. =(
In that particular storyline he was known as Old Man Logan.
The rationale is that it’s Logan’s healing factor that keeps him from aging…but then his healing factor begins to weaken…ergo, he begins to age.
So Mister Sinister and X-23 are in movie? Interesting.
“old age has meant that his own healing factor is finally failing”??? Seriously, and it’s only 2024? That is a rapid downward slide and out of line with everything else that’s already been setup. At least Old Man Logan was set much farther in the future…but he still had a working healing factor…also, Logan was always a heavy drinker but it never really does anything to him because of said healing factor.
Also…bets on Bryan Cranston as Mister Sinister?
