Heer46 are wheeling out a rather interesting looking project for your World War II era German armies to consider using on the tabletop. Take a look at the German Flakrocket, the Rheintochter in 1:56 scale.

German Flakrocket Rheintochter

This massive surface-to-air missile was developed in 1942 and was tested by the German army in 1943. It never saw action however and the project was cancelled in February 1945. Either way, it's a very impressive piece of kit!

The eventual idea was to mount the rocket on a tank like this or indeed have it fired from large aircraft. It looks rather fearsome and almost like a modern cruise missile in design.

The name of the rocket, the Rheintochter, actually comes from the Rhinemaidens who are a trio of water nymphs from Wagner's Der Ring des Nibelungen. Yep, you totally needed to know that...it's pub quiz knowledge you'll need one day!

Could you see this becoming part of a special mission during your World War II games? Maybe it could even actually get fired during a massive Konflikt '47 game spread out across multiple tables?

What do you think?
