Mount Up In Your PaK 40 Armoured Car For Bolt Action
September 7, 2016 by brennon
Warlord Games have another support vehicle rolling onto the battlefield for Bolt Action with their PaK 40 Armoured Car. When you need more anti-tank weapons just stick a big ol' gun on the front of the nearest vehicle.
As the Allies closed in on Germany this was the answer to all of that rolling armour. They stuck a big gun on the front of this quick moving vehicle and allowed it to retain its scouting routine while also being useful at sniping unaware armour.
There are a number of different options that you can choose from for this vehicle but they all fulfil similar battlefield roles.
Stick one of these on the flanks of your army and send it rushing up the battlefield to harass the enemy. You could even plonk this on an objective and start picking off foes from afar as they close in.
What do you think of this kit?

Very nice.
Resin & metal… I had hoped that this would be based on the plastic Puma. Looks goog but I prefer plastic.
I would be disappointed, but having just finished putting together a plastic puma with its 5 piece suspension assembly for every wheel (on the underside of the car, all but invisible…) a small number of nice chunky bits of resin to glue together might seem like an improvement
Depends, the way Warlord Games does resin and metal vehicles are okay for the most part. However, due to the tracks-body-tracks and the natural tendency for resin to warp over long distances you can sometimes get a gap between the tracks piece and the main body. Then there is the issue of parts not quite matching up and requiring a bit of green stuff. It just doesn’t seem like resin is the best medium for 1:56 scale tanks especially the bigger/longer ones. I just finished putting together their M26 Pershing. Can’t say I was happy with the extra work I… Read more »
I may have left off a few undercarriage bits while assembling mine…
Goog? Dratted fingers…
nice shows the desperation of the Germans putting a AT gun on a Puma arnoured car.
Im not sure if it was desperation as such, the Germans pushed the envelope with their vehicles and by all accounts most of them performed well. If anything they should have stuck with tried and tested designs rather than producing vehicles like the Tiger 2.
In an allied tank the thought of an armoured car sneaking up on you and blasting you to bits must have been terrifying.
I like how you think @solar ! The Germans realized before others that recce forces needed teeth to conduct their missions, and in the amour/firepower/mobility triad they sacrificed armour for speed, and used the ubiquitous 8-wheeled recce chassis to give them punch. Quite the overwatch!
In the world of Bolt Action game mechanics, it looks like German faster/Recce version of the M10 that takes an Armored Car Slot.
I like to change my list a lot. A decent AT gun plus recce makes this an interesting option. I think I will be adding one to the motor pool soon.
I may have to get one. I’ve always liked the feel of late late war Germans.
I’m stuck in 28mm, so may have to get one or two of these.
