Konflikt ’47 Unboxing: German Schreckwulfen & Nachtjager
September 2, 2016 by dignity
Today we're opening up more Konflikt '47 starter kits from Warlord Games, we have a double whammy of models today featuring the German Schrekwulfen and the German Nachtjager.
These two factions are extremely dangerous on the board and as one acts like a flying target, they can be used to great effect.
Even Lance in the studio thinks thte Nachtjager could be a perfect match for a Nightstalker Model from Dota2.
What kind of tactics would you brew up with these models?

want!
i love that these ‘weird’ units are horror themed rather than sci-fi or fantasy, i think that’s important to make them feel part of a war setting.
Schrek actually means to frighten.
It is units like these that make me want to give this game a try
Quite right, but in that case it means (unfortunately) frightened. So a frightened puppie.
It seems that Warlord had no native german speaking guy at hand so their “translation” turned into something unwanted.
I think Schreckenswölfe would be the better choice for these. At least I really like the minis. The poses and the details are really nice.
Indeed, the real life panzershrek rocket launcher = tank terror, as in the TANKS were terrified, not the rocket launcher. So here the Wolves are terrified, not DOING the terrifying. 😀
Maybe “Stosswulfen” or “Sturmwulfen?” (Shock Wolves or Assault Wolves?)
As Wulfen is no german word… no. But Schockwölfe or Sturmwölfe would be very cool.
And the problem with the Schreck is only one letter… the missing “Bindungs-s” or binding-s. That little s changes everything in this case… small but very important 😉
forget the last paragraph… there is more missing… because it’s the Schrecken we want to cause and not getting a Schreck. Or in English… we want to cause terror and not be terrorised.
So “ens” is missing…
where is the promissed edit function? @warzan
And isn’t “german” usually capitalized? So long as we’re all in language class here. 🙂
I think they are going for the alt alt meaning as once the word is put together it would be frightening wolf or wolf monster. Not the best German translation but it has been over 20 years since that last classroom experience. 🙂
I don’t know if you are a German, Austrian or from Switzerland (or any other native German speaking). But as far as I know (as a German) the meaning Warlord wanted to achieve and the meaning they had achieved are not the same. For anyone not knowing German that well it’s fine, but for me… well my stomach is twisting and turning when I have to read something like that 😉
@oriskany not everytime… but how it’s handled in English… well damn you “Krümelkacker” 😉 😀
I am really close to dump my Dust and get in to BA/Konflikt47. only thing stopping me is look of the Konflikt walkers I dont like them, dust models are much better designed in my own opinion.
That’s where I am at with this as well. I don’t really like the mechs for Konflikt especially the German spider mech which legs look like they should pierce straight ground high centering the body. If someone bothers stating up the Dust walkers for Konfikt 47 I probably will give it a go.
Frightwolf might be good translation for the Schreckwolfen … but those minis look really cool … might have to get some of them…
you can use your dust models with the Konflict 47 rules
I ordered mine earlier this week. I also got the light machine gun toting heavy infantry. Can’t wait. Warlord games are great and it only takes a couple of weeks to get here (Darwin Australia ). I already have my German starter kit . It’s a present for Fathers day however so I can’t open it till Sunday. Lol. The pressure is killing me!
The Weird War stuff is fine though the technological side would always appeal more to me. I do prefer plastic over metal.
Are we going to see @warzan ‘s Nachtwulf reborn in 28mm?
Nicely done, really nice not just to see the models, but what the rules are as well…..keep it up
Lovely models! I’d love to get into K47..but so many new games are melting my hobby funds all to rapidly I’m afraid 🙁
Anyhow, Schrekwulfen is pidgin German..not convincing. Schreck is spelled with ‘ck’ and wulfen isn’t German afaik. Grauenswolf would have been my choice (Das Grauen = horror, Horror Wolf). Now I will be thinking Shrek and paint mine Ogre green 😉
I think the Schreck without “c” was a mistake. I think they are written with “ck”. Anyhow… you know the bad german as well as I do.
Like the werewolves and will add to my collection for my custom Dust campaign.
The translation has got to be ‘fear-wolves’, right? If only for the nearly-rhyme with ‘werewolves’.
I need to model and paint one of each… at least ! 🙂
I hope the K47 stuff will spread to the Pacific theatre as well at some stage. I suppose the Germans would have been happy to share technology with their Japanese allies and I’m sure the Empire of the Rising Sun would have come up with really bizarre and wonderful things..like re-animated Samurai or a human/ dragon hybrid. Not to forget Kamikaze Bots!! 😎
Read the background in the K47 rulebook- definitely sounds as if there’s exciting stuff to come from the far east! I’ll be building a Japanese Bolt Action army ready to weirdify when their Konflikt rules come out.
I want to see big stompy robots from the far east and Godzilla.
@wesadie1969 – now THERE we go. I’m not usually a fan of Weird War II – but I want to see Godzilla rise from the sea and start drop-kickin’ Essex-class carriers back to San Francisco! Use him as a naval figure in a battleship game! (You could build him waist-up so it looks like he’s wading through the water.) 😀 😀 Great idea!
You heard us Warlord/Clockwork Goblin, we want Godzilla. 🙂
MOTHRA!
That might get me into this game.
Think you might be n luck there, Warlord have already said that the first supplement will cover the Japanese, and that would mean (to me) weird war Island Hopping and Anzac Forces.
Great unboxing as ever guy`s, i`m loving both of these new unit`s. If used correctly and in conjunction with each other, you`ll be giving your opponent one hell of a head ache. After watching the video, i nipped over to “Warlord” and had a look for them. Finding them was easy, but then i also spotted the “Heavy Infantry” and “H.I LMG`s”. So my shopping list just grow from 10 to 20 new mini`s, add these to the “German” starter box set (won on here(Americans on hold for now), many thank`s guy`s for adding two new armies to my already… Read more »
I love an entusiast =) (I feel your “pain”)
I am going for the wolves. I like them better then the Nachtjager.
@doomsombie
Lucky gitz??? Who’s has won a K47 starter box eh?! 😉
@suetoniuspaullinus
There is that mate ;), and if i was not in work tonight i would be starting on doing the list (and having a drink of course) for K47, but as it is it`ll have to wait until Sunday.
Great unboxing, I will be picking these up. I think you are spot on about the unit size as well(6/2). I will probably get enough for 2 units of each. Not only for Konflick47 either but I see these guys being a lot of fun in my Savage Worlds games as well.
My copy of the rules (and free mini) arrived from Warlord and one of the first things that struck me in the photos were these troops. They are great sculpts and have ensured that the first K47 army I collect will be German (until the russian bear troops come out …gotto love bear troops)
I think the Schrekwuffen and Naughtjagers are pretty awesome looking. To the point I want to buy them just so I can break out my Weird War II rpg books and put together a one-shot adventure with them in it.
this game looks mental & f%$£*ed up I love it.
The only issue I have with the sculpts is the Naughtjager with that head in his grasp. Is it his binky, does he take it everywhere? As stated I see them more as antivehicle maybe an antenna or a turret hatch covers. Otherwise they are really ugly in that good way they are supposed to be.
Man, those nachtjager look creepy!!!
Can’t wait to see the British releases!!
I hadn’t been particularly interested in this Weird World War game, but these miniatures are awesome, and the rules for them sound logical, simple, characterful and a lot of fun.
Only thing I don’t like so much is the gas mask on one of the wolves. It looks too much like a comic skaven to me, and if one needs his mask, why don’t they all? I’d assume they’d all want their mouths free to get maximum benefit of the ‘TOOTH and claw’ rule…
I wonder how these compare to Infinity Dog Warriors in terms of scale? They would be nice as alternate sculpts if they’re the right size.
