A New Wave Of Marvel & DC Heroes This Month From Knight Models
May 18, 2016 by brennon
Knight Models have put together another set of releases for this month to service their Batman Miniatures Game and Marvel Universe Game range. We'll kick of with what's on the cards for Marvel first this time...
Avengers & X-Men
Kicking things off for the Marvel set of miniatures we have Vision. I think he looks great here and is very similar to his movie appearance.
I really like the stance that they went for with Vision here as he is rising up ready to subjugate his foes with his power. They've also done some great work on the musculature allowing you to work with shading and highlighting to make him look ace.
Next up we have another Avenger and someone who has grown to be well liked by the Marvel crowd; Hawkeye.
Hawkeye here looks like he has harnessed the spirit of Johnny Cage with his look but otherwise is a cool model taking a shot with bow in hand. I like the addition of the scenic base too with the ruined SHIELD logo on it.
Lastly we turn to the X-Men with the addition of Nightcrawler to the crew.
Once again a cool pose for Nightcrawler as he is getting ready to pounce and attack his foes. I imagine he is going to bampf his way around the tabletop quite a lot making him a dangerous enemy to face.
The Marvel models really are grabbing my attention and I may actually need to try out this game with the Avengers.
DC Heroes
Leading the way for the DC Heroes for The Batman Miniatures Games we start things off with Starfire.
Starfire is, as her creator said, like 'Red Sonja' in space which is quite apt with that flaming red hair. She has superhuman strength, can fly at supersonic speeds and can go toe to toe with some of the greatest fighters in the DC universe.
Next up we have Ravager that we'd seen before in previews.
Apprentice to Deathstroke she is a deadly killer in her own right and looks rather awesome. Certainly one of the cooler DC characters.
Keeping up the 'Flash' angle we also have Kid Flash who might be a good sidekick for you to be playing with in your games.
There are certainly a lot of different Speedsters within the DC universe and you could make up quite the scenario I reckon.
Last but not least we go to the best part of their Batman Miniatures range, the Animated Series characters. Here we have Black Canary looking awesome.
We certainly need to see a Joker and a Phantasm from this collection. It would be fantastic to see where this goes.
What do you think of their latest selection?

A few of the more obscure releases for BMG this month. There was always going to be a speedster given that the new expansion book features the rules for them so prominently. The rest of the releases also tie into the new Teams lists in the book. The Marvel releases seem aimed at coinciding with the Civil War theme. Sculpt of the month had to be The Vision, very shiny! Lots of players are asking for missing crew boxes at the moment though. Most BMG players feel that a Mr Freeze crew is overdue and missing content from the original… Read more »
I think this is a strong release for both games. Now that all three launch teams for Marvel can field approximately fifty points, I expect we will see some villains start to show up.
Yeah building the crews up to strength is not without merit. I’m hoping that KM will follow up by releasing one villain crew box next month accompanied by multiple individual characters for that crew to rapiy build it up as a playable force.
I just cant help but think that one of the launch sets should have been a villain for diversity.
Those are really stunning. Besides it’s nice to see DCAU Black Canary getting her own model.
I think Hawkeye’s face is very ugly, but this might be due to the paint-job… Also, the recent comic book material is pretty unforgiving.
nice black canary’s a bit late as shes dead?
Did the animated series kill off their Black Canary?
she was killed off on the arrow 3-4 weeks ago but may return others have?
That’s a different version of the Black Canary.
Yeah, Arrow is its own thing, along with the DC series… It’s not canon.
In comics and animated shows, nobody ever really stays dead.
Except for Gwen Stacy and Uncle Ben. I’m aware that the DC/CW tellyverse just bumped off their version of Black Canary, but hadn’t heard anything about the animated Black Canary.
now now romain we can’t all have hansom good looks?
I hadn’t paid much attention to Hawkeye’s face, but it made me decide I really don’t like the Kid Flash model. 🙁
I like Starfire and Vision.
I really wish for my painting ability to catch up to these models. Huge starfire fan and these look awesome.
Like the Black Canary model ( and the rest of the Animated line), but Kid Flash’s face looks bad.
I really like vision and knightcrawler. They look great. Not really a DC fan but Starfire is great.
I’m going to need to pick up some of the marvel characters.
I don’t really see what people are talking about the face being odd but I can say that the painting really great. The sense of a light source above them is well made. I like the blending as well as you can still see the gradient but still clean.
VIsion, Check
Hawkeye, Check
Nightcrawler, Check
Still need Storm, Shadowcat, Banshee, Marvel Girl/Phoenix, Phoenix II, Longshot, Archangel, Beast, Iceman, Dazzler, Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, yeah these models are going to kill my wallet
Was somebody reading Uncanny X-Men in the 1980s 🙂
Starfire isn’t doing it for me but loving the rest.
You know what I want? Bad guys for the marvel crews to fight against, or maybe not even bad guys. I mean, Ronan the Accuser and some Cree soldiers and whatever the hell those things were in the movie, and maybe Yondu and some Ravagers!
the U.S. hasn’t got the April release yet…biggest U.S. distributor thinks it may not how up until June. My local store tried to get into the Marvel game but after having issues trying to get a restock they have dropped it. This seems to be the common story in the U.S.
I want to get these games going in my area but with KM’s lack of communication and support it’s an uphill battle.
At last I can do team Red Hood & the Outlaws 🙂
Starfire and the Black Canary are stunning models. The sculpt on Starfire’s hair is awesome. Can’t wait to pick up the rules for these, can’t believe I haven’t seen them before now!
I hope they do Shuma Gorath.
