Imperial Romans Take Shape & Form Up From Victrix
May 4, 2016 by brennon
Victrix are going to be setting about conquering Gaul and beyond with their Early Imperial Romans set which is coming together very nicely. You can see some of the renders below...
As you can see they have a brutality about them which I think is rather well represented in this image above where a soldier has cut the head off a poor Gaulish warrior.
The plastic set looks like it's going to have a lot of dynamic models within its ranks for creating Roman soldiers in the midst of combat. They have plenty of weapons like their highly effective throwing weapon - the pilum, and the gladius which was their short stabbing weapon.
Additionally it seems like you also get some special bits and pieces on the sprue including that torch. I could see a Roman raiding party racing through a Barbarian village setting it to the torch. You could then have the Barbarians trying to stop them before its engulfed in flames.
What do you think?

Haven’t these been about for a while? I am sure I had one in a Bits Box I won in a raffle.
Warlord Romans have, Victrix have focused on the Greeks and other nations till now. Good to see how the two compare, Victrix looking bulkier so far…
Warlord has an early imperial Romans plastic set. Victrix made some republican Romans last year for their Punic war series.
I really do like them a lot and can see myself painting a legion already. Judging by the rapidly growing Punic Wars range I expect Victrix to supply us with plenty of suitable opponents and auxilliaries as well over the next year or so..
@lloyd
C’mon man, this is the range you’ve been waiting for mate!
We should consider a vlog on how to speed-paint your legionaries and build your army over time..
I’ve got visions of conquering Britannia all over again now 😎
To quote Russel Crowe…ROMA VICTOR!
now THAT I would love to see, what sort of rules system do you think you’d use for that sort of coverage? Something like Hail Caesar be good for beginners perhaps, but then there are so many others out there…
If anyone was waiting for the right figures to come along before they started an EIR army in 28mm. I think they’ve arrived.
Wow. Yes, please!
These look superb.
Hopefully they don’t end up like the Warlord Games dito.
They look great!
Over on TMP Steve from Victrix/ LBMS has said this would be a COMPREHENSIVE range including Auxilliaries & enemies 😎
A second set of legionaries in static/ marching pose is being worked on already.
I better start saving those pennies!!!
