Exclusive! Carnevale & Home Raiders Saved By TrollTrader!
April 29, 2016 by brennon
We all were rather sad to hear that Vesper-On Games was closing its doors but it looks like Carnevale and Home Raiders will live on through an agreement with TrollTrader to take up the mantle and continue looking after the games with TTCombat!
Both of these games did something different and unique within tabletop gaming and it's good to see that they will continue to be a part of our community.
Carnevale & Home Raiders Live On
David Esbri has explained that through this new agreement with TrollTrader all of the lore, background and knowledge concerning both of these worlds will pass to them and he will remain available to help their designers take the game forward when needed.
Carnevale always had a great spirit to it with their original take on Venice with a twist of the dark and gritty behind it. Home Raiders too was a fantastic game set in our very own universe where the characters played on your regular dining tables, kitchen surfaces and bedroom floors.
The idea really hit home and had some good mechanics too. It was great for younger gamers too, packed with imagination, which I think was one of the key points about the game.
TrollTrader & TTCombat
We reached out to Louis from TrollTrader to find out more about the change of hands...
"We are delighted to be bringing Carnevale and Home Raiders into our business and cannot wait to push forward with what we believe are very strong and characterful ranges with huge future potential.
For Carnevale we are going to set about commissioning some new art, sculpting of new characters and resculpting of some old favourites. Our laser team at TTCombat are already working on new scenery including a complete Venetian board with canals etc.
We want to see this in as many stores as possible by offering a great gaming experience for their players with an organised play programme and player rewards.
Home Raiders has to be one of the best ideas I have ever seen in this industry! We all want an easy way to bring more people into our gaming lives, our friends, partners but most of all our kids! A child's untidy bedroom suddenly becomes a battlefield as the scenery is made up of your belongings!
Moving forward we want to release a plastic starter box and bolster the existing range of figures.
The complexity of the models will remain simple in order be easy to paint so kids can enjoy that aspect of the hobby too!
Having talked with David Esbri you can see that these games and their worlds have been created with so much passion and thought by someone with a huge amount of love for the hobby.
I want to say the future is bright but in the twisted world of Carnevale that doesn't sound quite right so lets instead say the future is exciting!"
So it all sounds bright and wonderful for Carnevale and Home Raiders right now. The move towards creating some fantastic new scenery and getting additional models onto the tabletops sounds great for Carnevale.
Home Raiders moving towards plastic with Starter Boxes and a bolstered range also gets a big thumbs up from us!
Best of luck to all involved and we can't wait to see where this goes in the future.
What do you think of the news?

Pleasing news!
Excellent news !
Very interesting, Troll Trader really are growing as a company quickly. Hopefully they dont take on too much too fast, going into plastics sounds ambitious.
I backed Home Raiders on KS and always said it was a fantastic idea, but the execution of it stopped it from growing to its full potential. Plastic starters are exactly what it needed and hopefully we’ll see this game take off as it deserves to.
That’s great to hear. Troll Trader are a regular presence at UK shows so hopefully both games can start to be shown off.
That’s great news – well done to TrollTrader.
That’s great news. It would have been very bad if these games suddenly vanished from existence.
And good to hear Troll Trader have ideas to grow both games right out of the gate. It shows they are really invested in the IP. Looking forward to see what they make of it.
I don’t want to sound a Debbie Downer and this is wonderful news for both of these intellectual properties but we must look at what this means for the industry. Is this the saturation point that @warzan has been talking about and fearing for the last few years. These are both great properties and should be able to thrive yet the industry has so many great products out there that we may be seeing that survival may be the goal and not world dominating growth.
Here is to hoping I am wrong.
Games have always came and went no matter how strong or weak the industry was. A strong industry means very many more games survive. A weak industry means not only fewer games, but when a company goes under there isn’t someone waiting to snap up their games and keep them going.
Well done them!
Not games i have played, although I thought both very interesting concepts, I do hope that they can move the game forwards and gain some success. I’m also glad for those that play, its never good when a game you like ends.
Yesterday, reasonably priced HDF terrain;
Today, Carnevale;
Tomorrow, the world!
I’m glad this deal went through and that fans of both games will see continued support. Kind of weird that the owners of Carnevale are effectively my FLGS though!
Nice one TT, good luck with this.
This is such awesome news! I have all of room raiders and a lot of carnivale. I agree that room raiders needs a plastic starter set. The box set that I have is great but if you want it to go into stores and be available for kids I think plastic is the way to go.
I’m really happy that these properties are going to continue. 🙂
Great news! Home raiders is such a brilliant idea, a must have for me as my kid grows up. 🙂
Plastic starters, yes please!
Absolutely Fantastic news!
Soon happy about this. I love the Carnevale setting.
Delighted to hear this. Carnevale is a game I was planning on really getting my teeth into so to hear it has a future is excellent. And more scenery on the horizon has really made my day.
Brilliant news indeed. Especially as they looking to release more terrain for Carnevale. This has got the weekend off to a great start for me. Should do sales a power of good TT were easily the busiest stand at Salute
This is great news; Carnevale and Home Raiders are great properties and I think the world would have been a bit less intersting without them.
This is also another great move by Troll Trader after their Rumbleslam Kickstarter. They seem to be serious about branching into games design as well as simple retail.
Fab news home raiders is brilliant 🙂
What a fantastic news! well done Troll trader! this really is exiting!
I always loved the setting for Carnevale, but Home Raiders always just felt like a re-hash and bowdlerization of the classic Fairy Meat. Still respect to Troll Trader for grabbing an opportunity.
Good news, would be sad to see the games go down
Great news, looking forward to seeing the Venetian board and plastic Home Raiders starters.
This is very good news! Excited to hear we will have more terrain for Carnevale
First of all, great news that such stalwarts as Louis, Dave and Co at Trolltrader have stepped in and we will see some positive progression on these rather interesting games. I missed the KS, mainly as i couldnt afford them and do my other projects at the same time, but if there are going to be affordable plastic starter kits, what i can only expect to be excellent terrain pieces, i will certainly be very interested in taking a look at both of these when they get going in i hope the not to distant future.
Congratulations.
