Imperial Knight’s Clash In Games Workshop’s Renegade
April 18, 2016 by brennon
Games Workshop have put together another game for you to pick up - this time including two big Imperial Knights from Warhammer 40,000. The boxed game is called Renegade and pits a corrupted Chaotic Knight against a shining example of Imperial might. Check it out...
Inside the set you get a Warden and Paladin Knight which you can tweak to your hearts content. One is a Loyalist and the other is a Renegade...
You will also get the big scenery piece you see there to fight over and an eight page booklet with the rules and more for you to play your games. this seems like a bit of a strange set to put together but it's a neat idea.
One of the faceplate designs for the Imperial Knights above is a custom one it should be said - if you want to make it they have provided a PDF Download with tips on making your own.
Again while I think this is a good idea I don't see why this couldn't have been done through a White Dwarf issue. I think anyone who was going to play with Imperial Knights was already doing so and it would have been easy to make the rules available in a multitude of ways.
Still, I'm sure some of you will be picking this up when the time comes!

Probably been a slow down in Knight sales so they’ve done this as a bundle to shift some more.
Aren’t we due for a new Knights Codex about now as well? 😉
I really don’t care why they are doing it, just that they are making bundles that are a real deal. If that means there are certain rules that are only released in there then so be it.
They want me to buy a Knight. It,s an amazing mini, but too many work for this days. Not to mention the price. Now maybe if I could find a friend to buy it toghether… I don,t know.
The rules in WD.
Grabbed this over the weekend. It’s “Start Collecting: Imperial Knights” in everything but name. And I’m pretty sure the rules were included in White Dwarf either at the Knight’s release or that massive Tau thing. Almost definitely superfluous, but with two Knights and a building at that price I don’t care what else they throw in the box.
If you want a knight, and have a friend that wants the other one, it is quite a bargain. I think as a bundle it is a great deal.
I think that GW is doing a lot of good things at the moment. I look forward to next month Warhammer Quest game in AoS universe.
What do you know. That box is actually good deal and cheaper way of getting two Imperial Knights.
just know that it is coming next month. nothing else.
There’s no denying that it’s definitely cheaper than buying two Knights, but I’m not so sure that it equates to a good deal. It’s still shockingly expensive.
The packaged deal makes this kind of interesting. But you still have to be pretty into it to invest in this kit, both from a money and hobby perspective.
Very tempting, interestingly you are pretty much getting the second knight at cost price (if you beleive the 80% margin GW has on everything it sells), do feel sorry for anyone who bought the new knight kit at list price, who now could have had double the kit for just £24 more….
The Knight’s been out a while though; I’m sure the people who bought them will have been fairly happy with their purchases in the intervening time.
This is an INCREDIBLE value for money box set – fantastic work GW. Also, note a distinct Battle-tech feel on those data sheets…. If this is a great rule set I really hope GW will bring this out as a full set of rules for all the “bigger” stuff in our 40K armies.
I have my doubts that a game consisting of one model per side is going to be all that compelling. But hey, if it is marketed as an excuse for existing players to get two knights and some terrain for a discount then who will care?
I would have been happier if it was an Epic-scale game. I don’t have much interest in knights at 28mm scale. Good price though, considering what you get.
I think the game element is an afterthought, but so what, if it’s playable then I have no issue what so ever. There are plenty of discount retailers out there who are knocking off between 20 and 25% at that level you’re looking at £90-95 for two knights and a chunk of scenery – that’s a decent deal in anyones book, and would be seen as a great buy if it were from a different system also. So all credit to GW they are addressing their major detractors head on with a pricing structure that is far more inclusive than… Read more »
Tempted. Very tempted.
Ordered mine for £90 with delivery included. Always fancied a knight but never got around to it given the 90 squids price tag… Similar price for a Warden, regular knight and some scenery with added novelty game? SOLD!
Looking forward to this immensely! 🙂
its a great deal for two knights and some scenery.
That is what I thought and the initial price for one knight is what was keeping me away. This is a good deal if you go through a discounted source.
This will sell on the basis of the box price being good for the content – the game is irrelevant. Add in online discounts and it is a good price. However, Guild Ball season 2 and Warmachine Mk3 have my hobby funds collared
I think this shows that GW isn’t really interested in the board game itself but is trying to create vehicles for there own sales (that is sales as in the special offer sometimes given at a store). They have a policy of not discounting, but this seems to be as close to discounting as you can get for them.
Maybe you’ve hit the nail on the head @caldors. I was about to post pondering why GW would release this as a game that as far as I’m aware no one was asking for, and I suspect hardly anyone will play. Like @ugleb, I’d be surprised if the game was any good.
No one’s complaining about a great deal on some amazing miniatures though – or I’m certainly not – so why don’t they just release good deals? Perhaps with data sheets to give them something a little extra?
They have been working on it for a while, there are rules for Tau and Orks in previous white dwarfs, so I think it is a lot of what has been said in the GW thread it can’t turn on a dime.
looks like they have sold as many knights as they think they can at full price, and needed a way to keep monetizing those moulds. After all, the sprues themselves costs mere pennies to produce once the mould is paid for.
Excellent move. I will probably be getting one just to encourage this sort of thing from GW. (and to finally get my hands on knights to hug and to play with. to hug and to play with….)
I always fancied painting up a knight so this seems an excellent opportunity.
Alas, just after Salute my funds are depleted 🙁
I’m holding out for when they release the 1:1 scale version of this 😛
I hope more of the bundles are like this. This was something I wanted anyway and BAM, bundle with real savings.
